The first Angel on base was Taylor Ward who was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the second inning. Jo Adell singled to send Ward to third with no outs. Logan O’Hoppe grounded into a double play that scored Ward. 1-0 Angels.
The Nationals singled in the first, second, fourth, and fifth innings. Unfortunately, the hit they had in the fifth was a homer that tied the game.
Jose Fermin replaced Kyle Hendricks in the sixth inning and mowed them down. Newman got a hit in the bottom of the Sixth but Rengifo hit into a double play. Ryan Zeferjahn came in for the seventh inning. He gave up another run on a walk, a steal, and a single. 2-1 Nationals.
Zach Brzykcy came in to replace Mike Soroka. Mike Trout welcomed him with a homer to tie the game at two all.
Taylor Ward doubled to left. Jo Adell singled. Then Eduardo Salazar was brought in to pitch. Logan O’Hoppe struck out for the first out and they brought in Zach Neto to hit for LaMonte Wade Jr. He popped out. Christian Moore singled and Taylor Ward scored to make it 3-2 Angels.
Kevin Newman homered to make it 6-2 Angels. It’s nice to see the Nationals real bull pen showed up today.
Luis Rengifo chipped in a double. Nolan Schanuel walked to bring up Mike Trout for the second time in the inning. The Nationals brought in Ryan Loutos to face Trout. Mike Trout walked this time to load them up for Taylor Ward. Ward also walked. 7-2 Angels. Jo Adell grounded out to end the seventh inning festivities.
Reid Detmers came in to pitch. He coughed up a quick single to James Wood. That was erased when Luis Garcia Jr. hit into a double play. Nathaniel Lowe walked and Josh Bell doubled. Fortunately, Brady House grounded out.
Now the Nationals brought in Jackson Rutledge to pitch. Gustavo Campero pinch hit in what was Zach Neto’s spot. He homered. 8-2 Angels.
Sam Bachman came in to put a bow on the game. Damon Lile singled and made it to third on a couple of ground outs. CJ Abrams lined out to end the game. Angels win 8-2!
