And the Angels fielding alignment:
In the first inning Brent Rooker doubled and Tyler Soderstrom walked Max Muncy singled to drive in Rooker. 1-0 Athletics. In the third inning Brent Rooker homered to make it 2-0 Sacramento. the only Angel with a hit in the first three innings was Mike Trout. Four Angels did draw walks.
In the Fourth inning, Luis Urias doubled and then made it to third on a fielding error by Taylor Ward. Max Scheumann drove him in with a sacrifice fly. 3-0 Athletics. In the Angels part of the fourth, Mike Trout hit his second single which was also the second hit by the Angels as a team. It led to no scoring.
The Angels had eight strikeouts through the fifth inning and the score remained 3-0. In the sixth inning, Kevin Newman singled and so did Zach Neto to bring up Nolan Schanuel with two men on and no outs. Schanuel struck out. Grant Holman came in to pitch to Mike Trout who walked to load the bases with one out for Taylor Ward. Taylor Ward was hit by a pitch to drive in Newman. 3-1 Athletics.
Jorge Soler knocked in a couple of runs with a gounder through to center field. 3-3 tie.
Now Osvaldo Bido came in to pitch. Travis d’Arnaud hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Taylor Ward. 4-3 Angels.
Jo Adell homered to drive in himself and Jorge Soler. 6-3 Angels.
Luis Rengifo singled. Kevin Newman hit his second single of the inning. Zach Neto flied out to end the inning.
In the seventh inning, Max Schuemann walked and Brent Rooker homered (again) to make it 6-5 Angels. This homer was off of Ryan Zeferjahn who was replaced by Brock Burke shortly after giving a single to Tyler Soderstrom. Neither the Athletics nor the Angels scored any more runs this inning. Connor Brogdon came in to replace Brock Burke for the eighth inning. JJ Bleday doubled but Brogdon retired the next three guys in order.
The summary of the bottom of the eighth inning is as follows: strikeout, walk, strikeout, strikeout.
Reid Detmers came in to close out the ninth. He did so on ten pitches, eight of which were strikes. The Angels won 6-5.
