Postgame Loss Birch Fest

Here we go again. Enjoy your Ben Joyce bobblehead. Today we had Jose Soriano versus Tarik Skubal. Can Soriano keep his two seamer down? The batting orders follow:

AAAAAAHHH! It’s an Angels Postgame! Now I got that out of the way, who shall I insult today? Insulting the players and coaches is apparently OK. They can all probably kick my ass, but they can’t see me behind my keyboard. So Nyaaa! … Nyaaa! Neener neener!

Somehow Soriano got out of the first inning without giving up a run. It’s a miracle I tells ya! Zach Neto proceeded to bash a homer. 1-0 Angels. That didn’t take long.

In the third inning, Kyren Paris doubled and Tim Anderson bunted to advance Paris to third. There was a bit of a scrum but no further scoring.

We somehow got out of this inning without losing the whole season. I don’t get it.

Here is a double play.

So anyway, now we get to see that vaunted Tigers offense.

In the top of the Tigers Seventh, Trey Sweeney homered to tie the game. Taylor Ward struck out. Logan O’Hoppe grounded out. Travis d”Arnaud struck out.

Now it was 1-1 in the top of the eighth inning. Is anybody planning to win this? Ryan Zeferjahn held the Tigers to ZIP! The Angels didn’t score in the eighth inning either. Ahem!

Kenley Jansen came in to pitch the ninth inning. He promptly gave up a homer to Riley Greene. it’s OK though, because he also gave up a homer to the next Tiger batter, Colt Keith. 3-1 Tigers. Javy Baez also homered. Ho Hum! 5-1 Tigers. Zach McKinstrey doubled eventually to put Tigers at second and third with two outs. Kenley Jansen was replaced by Jake Eder. “Four, Five, Six, Eight … Who do we all really hate? No worries. A wild pitch then brought in a run. 6-1 Tigers.

Riley Greene homered for the second time in the ninth inning. This was a three run homer. 9-1 Tigers. Ahhh!. Colt Keith flied out. Sheesh!

The top of the Angels order was due to come up. Zach Neto struck out. Nolan Schanuel lined out to the center fielder. Jorge Soler lined out to left. Game over.

Hopefully Jansen can get his ERA down to around 3.00 over the next few weeks and recoup some trade value.

I’m still not understanding the MNT “bone bruise” injury designation. Hopefully he’s back in action immediately after the 10-day but, it’s impossible to feel any confidence in that outcome.

As easy as it was to predict he’d get hurt…it’s even easier to assume it will be longer than 10 days….. and a 1000% certain he’ll get hurt again in 2025, when and if he plays.
It’s just his reality.

Going all in on Baeza at the Kentucky Derby today to win it in the soup. Hot tip from Eppei and Shohei.

In honor of the Angels, side bet of $100,000,000 Eppei/Betts Bucks on Tiztastic…which is close to Craptastic, reminds me 100% of the Angels existence.

In honor of the Ron Washington, side bet $100,000,000 Eppei/Betts Bucks on Flying Mohawkreminds me 100% of the the eventual firing of Wash, right after his trip to the barbershop to get his customary Joe Madden mohawk before he’s axed……and retired MLB’er Jayson Werth is part owner.

I always check the winning time in the Triple Crown races so I can say “Secretariat wins again!” I found out today that *every* horse in the Kentucky Derby is related back to Secretariat so even if one breaks the record it’ll still be Secretariat holding the record…sort of.

After spending the night reflecting, once again the only logical conclusion to analyzing this dumpster fire is to place all the blame at the top.

I don’t fault the inexperienced intern for taking a job as GM, misassembling a dysfunctional roster of past their prime bargain basement veterans and not ready for prime time youngsters, while not trading whatever semi-valuable assets we still have left, and hiring an ancient well past his sell date infield coach to run this mess, while largely trading poorly and drafting poorly and creating the worst farm team in baseball, leaving little hope for the future

No, I blame the incompetent owner who is only interested in squeezing every out of his asset while simultaneously killing it.

As a fan of this team since 1961, I can only hope he burns it to the ground, so fans stop coming, he stops making big money, and he realizes the best short term play is to sell. The rebuild won’t happen until this happens.

Will the Angels extend Neto? If so, what would it take? 7 years/$200mil? Just looked it up and the Fletcher deal maxed out at 7 years/$41mil. Neto has much more potential than Fletcher but wow prices have soared.

I think now would be the perfect time for a flowery essay on some of Jose Suarez’s better seasons and how we sure seem to be missing him.

Remember back when the most nostril flaring, capillary rupturing affront to proper baseball existence was having Suarez at Spring Training? I do. It was like six weeks ago.

you type it up. I’ll Guest rec it four times.

I’m not sure if it’s ok to get frustrated with a franchise for being horrible for over a decade or if I should be extra cool and play it off like I’m unbothered.

If you’re still getting frustrated by some thing for over a decade you should probably learn to be unbothered by it.

Like I have had to do with country music combined with hip hop. I can’t make it not exist. I can learn to control my gag reflex.

I like Birch. It’s a nice looking tree and it makes great drums. Focused, punchy, lots of attack. Use thick heads on em, kinda loose. They sound DOOM low but still have punch. Great cracking snares too.

Birch. It’s nice.

I’m a quaking aspen guy……..kind of like a birch.

The largest living organism is Pando, a clone of quaking aspen trees in Utah, reports the US Forest Service It’s a single organism with a vast root system that spans over 106 acres and is estimated to weigh 13 million pounds. Pando’s estimated age is at least 14,000 years old.

Essentially Sports has a write up of the Washington era being over, and a Hunter of wins is in, namely Tori. I can’t completely blame Ron as he given minor league players to start with. 5 older guys, Hendricks-Soler-Jansen-Trout-Frenchie, how’s that working out. Ward and Renny not working, Moncada, Adell, Paris, not working. Hendricks and Soler made no sense at all. I have up until this season liked PTP but when he signed an extension, I know Arte owned him. Don’t fix the minors, don’t work on a stadium deal, don’t hire a real scouting dept., sign Manager and coaches on the cheap. Presidents and 2 VP’s still around nothing, it’s not all Wash’s fault.

steelgolf

I can’t blame Arte for not working on a stadium deal. He has danced that dance twice and wasted over 10 years doing it, only to be snatched away by the latest group of “community activists” and politicians. Quite possibly the dark hand of Disney being involved. Why jump into that circle jerk again?

Very weird post game write up. You would think the team was on a 7 game winning streak and 11 consecutive season playoff run coming into this one, not the other way around.

Attacking the fan base for being pissed off with a terrible product they pay and invest in is certainly a choice.

So Charles, you are saying that expressing our displeasure towards the players and coaches is not okay ?

Are we supposed to be like the 72 yr old grandma who treats the players like her sons (or grandsons) and just says “It’s okay, go get em’ next time boys.” ?

In thinking about this – it’s ALREADY HAPPENING. Trout keeps coming back and then mysteriously is injured early in the season. Maybe his way of “retiring” but still making it look like he’s making the effort so as to not leave that money on the table. Dunno.
