Jo Adell will miss a couple of days with his hip tightness. We shall see whether Kyren Paris can continue hitting now that it is the regular season.
In the first inning, Ward, Schanuel, and Trout all reached safely and then Jorge Soler sacrificed in a run. Yoan Moncada hit into an almost double play. He beat out the throw to first and Nolan Schanuel scored. 2-0 Angels.
Unfortunately, Nick Maton immediately hit a solo shot to make it 2-1 Angels. Luis Robert Jr. singled and made it to third on a couple of warning track fly balls. Matt Thaiss drove him in with a single to right. 2-2.
The second inning was uneventful. The top of the Angels order was back for the third inning. They made three quick outs. So did the White Sox.
Luis Rengifo made a pretty good play in the fifth inning.
For some reason, Ron Washington pulled Jack Kochanowicz after the sixth inning when he had thrown only 64 pitches. The game ground along with no further scoring until the bottom of the seventh inning when a hail storm put a stop to the festivities. Matt Thaiss was on second with one out at the time.
The Chicago grounds crew had a hell of a time pulling the tarp over the infield. It only took them about an hour and a quarter to get the whole infield covered. The delay was nearly three hours.
Miguel Vargas walked. Ben Joyce uncorked a wild pitch to send the runners to second and third. Basically the pitch went straight through the webbing on d’Arnaud’s glove. Joyce got out of the inning without giving up a run.
Kyren Paris led off the eighth inning with a homer. 3-2 Angels.
Kenley Jansen got the save. The Angels win 3-2.
