Seeing the Angels draft second overall in the 2025 draft should have fans excited about adding a frontline talent to the organization. As such, interest in college baseball and draft prospects will likely be at an all time high here at CtPG. So, let’s figure out how to see some of the most eligible bachelors either live or on TV.
For streaming, you simply can’t beat ESPN+ for college baseball. There are games galore, particularly in the SEC and Big West. I honestly picked up the service for boxing but now keep it for college baseball.
There’s nothing like seeing a game or prospect live. There’s also nothing like being able to say “I saw him in college” when he’s (hopefully) dominating at the MLB level in a few years. And living in the Southland provides a lot of opportunities to see the best prospects live.
First off, Gitcho’s draft crush Tyler Bremner. A right handed strike throwing machine frum UCSB with a pitch mix right out of central casting, he could be the future ace of the Angels. Here’s what Baseball America has to say about the kid:
“Bremner enters the 2025 draft season as one of a trio of elite pitching prospects in the class alongside Florida State’s Jamie Arnold and California prepster Seth Hernandez. He’s a lean righthander with a 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame and excellent feel for a three-pitch mix. Bremner sits 94-96 mph with a fastball that touches 98 and features excellent riding life. He also has a pair of secondaries with plus potential: a mid-80s tumbling changeup and a mid-80s gyro slider with snappy finish. He pitched well with Team USA over the summer and owns a 31.1% strikeout rate and 6.4% walk rate in two seasons with UC Santa Barbara, but he hasn’t started more than eight games in a single season.“
And here’s a visual:
As UCSB is in the Big West, most of us in California will have a good chance to see him. And if you aren’t aware, aces pitch in Friday nights in college baseball. In fact, aces are called the Friday Night Pitcher at the college level. So if you plan to see Bremner pitch, you should go to the Friday game.
Here is UCSB’s full schedule. They obviously play their home games on in Santa Barbara. For the rest of us:
Feb. 21st they play in San Diego at the Tony Gwynn Legacy Tournament. March 28th they kick off a series at Long Beach State and I plan on attending that game (I will provide updates and feel free to ping me if you want to meet up). Two weeks later they hit UC Riverside on April 11th then come back this way May 2nd at Fullerton and spend the weekend in between at UC San Diego.
I’ve been meaning to catch a Fullerton game at some point so could be persuaded to head to that game, particularly if I don’t make the Dirtbags appearance.
