The AAA Angels and the AAA White Sox faced again this afternoon. Neither team figured out how to hit the ball, as this pitching duel between the 2 worst teams in Baseball went underway. Kochanowicz went 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, striking out 5 and walking none and was in line for the loss anyway because the Angels were being shutout in a BULLPEN game COME ON.
I mean SERIOUSLY it is the White Sox, the 116 Loss White Sox and you are unable to even score a SINGLE RUN! Come ON! Yes, this lineup is full of AA players. Yes, Logan had ANOTHER day off. Yes, this offense sucks, but so does the White Sox bullpen. This was a MiLB game disguised as a MLB game, and somehow, the Angels were being shutout. No excuse.
Anyway, here was the only run of the game for the vast majority of the game.
Can the Angels finally do something?
Angels do something
Finally, in the 8th inning, the Angels score on a lucky single to tie the game at 1.
This is what you get when Neto is one of your only actually good players. He pinch hit, stole a base, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored on the IF being in. Without him, the Angels lose in a shutout, with him, the Angels were tied going into the 9th. Yeah. Still utterly pathetic.
But this means a walkoff time right? Well maybe, I hope so, maybe then I can stop watching this game. I had little hope they would be able to do so.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand off to extras it is. UGHHHHHHHHHH…
Extra Innings Time
White Sox score on a bunt and a sac fly. Because of course they do.
And the Angels respond with a bunt and a single.
They did not score another, even after loading the bases, so off to the 11th we go.
In the 11th, with 2 outs, the White Sox scored again on a single.
Angels tied it up again though.
But did not score another one. Again.
At least in the 12th the Angels prevented the White Sox from scoring. So maybe the Angels can finally end it. Right?
HAHAHAHA NO! Even after loading the bases AGAIN, the Angels failed to score even the Manfred Runner.
That’s fine though, because in the 13th, the White Sox do the EXACT SAME THING. No one wants to win this game.
But the Angels score in the 13th, and WIN THE GAME YES!
Upcoming
4 Games in Houston up next. And then no game Monday before 3 in Chicago. Against the White Sox. Wow. Like, really, this schedule sucks almost as much as this team.
It’s good to win games that we should be winning.
“Special K” is stringing together some nice outings
We rightfully complain about a perennially losing Angels team, but imagine rooting for the White Sox, who are now 81 games below .500
Great synopsis of the game. Thank you.
look at that crowd! Announced as 22,000. 😆
Maybe this Wagaman guy might be actually good.
compared to Tony, maybe. I’m disappointed in Tony. I think he’s damaged goods.
If Rendon was good for his 30 to 50 games a season, would I be any happier? Probably not because even Mike Trout being Trout for his 30 to 50 games just reminds me of what we’re missing the other 100 or more games.
^ This ^.
Fun is good. That game was fun.
Silent C is a keeper —
“Jack Kochanowicz has a 3.05 ERA in his last seven starts (44.1 IP) with six of those going 6+ innings while running a 52.9 GB% (very good) and 8.4 K% (very bad) — if he can find a way to miss more bats he could be a very effective innings eater”

Angels since 2000 with 6+ quality starts within their first nine career games:
Jered Weaver (9)
John Lackey (7)
Jack Kochanowicz (6)

does this one count? Against the white sux?
It would have sure counted against him if he gave up 7 runs and lost, so why not?
I do agree he’s looking good, and hoping he’s a solid mid rotation starter next year.
If they can fix Detmers, They ,ay be on their way to developing a rotation.
My dream rotation from our internal options —
Soriano
Detmers
Kochanowicz
Dana
Klassen
2027?
I sure agree about the schedule.
Now we need 1 more win to avoid you know what
They will avoid 100 losses. But is 98 significantly different or better?
It’s a rounding error. The Angels delivered results in 2024 that were epic in their ugliness. The franchise leadership worked hard to be this bad.
