Can anyone explain why Wash let Canning give up 10 runs, 9 of them earned when he has access to a September bullpen? That seems vindicative and cruel. What the heck did Canning do to him? Granted I didn’t see the game but man that just looks bad.

This whole year has been Spring Training. It’s never been about winning but learning, developing, and evaluating. Unfortunately, my opinion is that after watching this year, nothing much developed and we don’t have much to hang onto on the position player side of things. If it was up to me, the core for 2025 would be O’Hoppe, Neto, Trout, Rengifo, and Ward. Adel would be my 4th OF and Mickey would be my 5th. I would extend Rengifo and start him at 3B, get a 1B, 2B, a DH, and an OF. I would let the minor leagers develop and I would send Schanuel down to learn how to hit like someone who is 6’4” 220lb.
That’s not what will happen but It is what I would do if I was building a team for the future. maybe you only do some of that for next year. You could leave Joe in RF for next year and see if anything happens. There is hope for 2025 and 26 on the pitching side.
I feel like if you were to just repeat this year over it would just be wasting another year. I’m good with what they did this year, it just didn’t work out like we had hoped.
