Caden Dana Makes Angels Debut by Ruining Mariner Playoff Aspirations

3-2 Angels

Caden Dana is a Halo through and through. He understands that the most important thing to this franchise is not a World Series win or even a positive season record. No. The Angels are an organization predicated solely on the suffering of Pacific Northwesterners.

The man got the callup to be the youngest Angels pitcher to make a start (and collect a win) since the 70s and was fire, twirling 6 innings of 2-run ball with 4 strikeouts. You might try to counteroffer that the Mariners literally have the worst offense in baseball, but this is a dude who literally can’t even drink yet so your reservations mean as much to me as I do to the cosmos.

On the other side, Taylor Ward led off the game with a bomb off the second pitch of the bottom of the 1st, and Anthony Rendon handed a W to our fresh righty stud with a 2-run single to give the Angels yet another come-from-behind victory against Seattle.

This is why we turn on the TV every day. It’s not for the walkoffs or the big dongs or the injury list stints or any of that. We are die-hard fans of misery’s company. See you next year, M’s.

Damn, sounds like I missed a good game. My son couldn’t wait to tell me when I got home from fishing.

Ryan Costieu who has been on a pitch limit all year as a TJS survivor . Pitched 6 no hit innings walking only 2 while striking out 8 in High A lowering his ERA to 3.04. He may not be too far behind the other baby halos starters into next year in making top to the big club. Stay tuned. .

Looking forward to Caden’s next game. Like the way he stood tall out there. Special.

Speaking of special, thanks to Luis Rivas for whiffing on a very catchable liner off the bat of Rendon.

…and then there is my good friend JeDi. The next time we we face the Mariners, a new GM will be in-place. Today was a nice send-off

But he aint the GM hes the POBO. So Im sure JeDi will blame his GM protege, Justin Hollander and can him to survive another season.

In a lost season, On top of 10+ lost seasons, with probably a few more lost seasons coming soon, denting Jerry’s kids already diminishing playoff hopes feels pretty good.

Dana’s hair gives major weaver vibes.

25 games to go and 6 of those are against the Chicago White Sox, currently 31-107 on a 10 game losing streak, so we ought to win at least 3 of those

Even against Chicago, I might take the under.

Dana didn’t just steal Weave’s number, look at that flow! Hopefully he’s a worthy successor to 36.

Gonna have to go back and watch this one methinks.

just read this astonishing bit at Lookout Landing

“Unfortunately, the Angels, thanks to their insistence on drafting exclusively players who have stood on a mound at some point in their lives, have a very good bullpen”

They’ve finally evolved. Normally it would have made some Anaheim California LA joke when naming the Angels.

So Disney and DirecTV get into a carriage dispute, and now I can’t watch Phillies/Braves. Anyone else having Sunday Night Baseball withdrawals? And of course it’s blacked out on MLB.tv.

And they wonder why kids don’t watch baseball anymore.

there’s some weird thing going on here in Portland (and probably other places) where the Oregon football games are blacked out on Comcast. I think that’s a loser for Comcast. I’d switch Tuesday if I had that service.

Yep. Can’t watch USC/LSU either. I paid $150 for MLB.tv and $100 a month for DirecTV. It’s ridiculous.

Time to change providers. I have Spectrum, internet, basic package that I stream, and their cell phone service.

Still haven’t been to a game since they all said “Hey, we just had the pandemic. Fuck those plebes, let’s go on strike! People are starving in this business and now is the time to go to the mats.”

NFL/MMA are America’s game now… NBA too. Baseball’s screwed the pooch and if they want to get back they’ll have to make all sorts of changes that piss off old men like me the way Cricket did to land international audiences.

can confirm Dana Day was electric in-person.

Baby Thor was effective pounding FBs while being unable to land his breaking stuff to save his life. Holding 94 mph in the 6th inning was impressive.

Pretty good for a 20 year old!

Whatever they called a cutter seemed to baffle the hitters ( and the umpire)

That umpire was so weird.

He is named Bacon. I thought he had a “crisp” strike call.

I know they registered as cutters, but pretty sure they were tighter slliders? Ump gave us the big call in the 6th

Langston & Terry Smith discussed this on air. They had no reports that indicated he threw a cutter so its movement form one of his other pitches that is being classified as such
