Blue Jays ‘Almost’ No Hit the Angels

Another day, another game vs the blue people. Well, birds really. Blue Jays. Carson Fulmer was on the bump this time to try and not fail. He went 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, striking out 8 and walking 2. A quality start! Too bad the offense sucks and did not help at all.

Thank Taylor “Blake” Ward for hitting a home run in the 9th. It prevented the Angels from being no hit and keep their streak alive. The Angels have the longest active no no hitter streak, not being no hit since 1999.

“Highlighted” Recap

Jays scored first in the first because of idiocy. And a Vlad Jr double. But mostly idiocy. Like, “grabbing a ball that was going to go foul and throw it away so the runner advances all the way to 3rd” idiocy.

1-0 Jays

The other double was more understandable though

2-0 Jays

It was almost worse in the 3rd when a ball was mashed but a quick relay nabbed the runner at home!

WOW

It was a pitchers’ duel with the Blue Jays putting out their A game while the Angels put out their B game and the F offense as they were being NO HIT through 8 INNINGS.

Oh and Vlad Jr hot a home run. Just to rub it in.

3-0 Jays

Only 3 outs to go. Can the Angels avoid the no no? Taylor Ward thinks so.

NOT NO HIT

Angels still lost though.

Upcoming

Angels face one more in Canada. And then we are done with them. Until next year. Canadians are weird.

more kvetching about the lottery…

according to Tankathon we have an 18.03% chance of getting pick #1. There is a 37.05% chance that a team below us will get that pick, or slightly more than double our chances.

here’s where I really don’t like it. This past year Cleveland zoomed to #1 from 12th, I believe. If that happens again it barely raises our chances at getting pick #2.

If Washington, currently #4, gets picked #1 our chances at #2 would be 20.1% while the field (that is, #5 through #18) would have a 26.8% shot at #2. But if the #12 team gets the top pick then our chances for #2 only rises from 18.0 to 18.3%.

In other words, if longshots get picks before us the odds that we’ll get the next pick don’t change in our favor.

I wish someone else was doing this work to check on my numbers. MLB has the worst lottery because there are SIX picks before they go to inverse records and it is entirely possible that the worst team will get pick #7.

Fight “inflation” by supporting the Angels “deflation”. What instrument are you playing on the deck, the cold water is surging on this team. It is still fun seeing what the yuts are playing. 🎼 📯 🎷 🎻 🎺 🎸 🎶

White Sox and A’s will be ineligible to pick in the top 10 of the 2025 Draft.

Battle for the best lottery odds:
Marlins (46-83)
Rockies (48-82)
Angels (54-76)
Nationals (58-72)

I can only imagine with you and others what may have been if in July ’22 we traded the unicorn for prospects and followed through with trades in July ’24. There is always this off season coming up.

Drury is in an embarrassing position isn’t he, he can’t field (3B), he can’t hit, maybe time to sit.

We have lost all 6 games we’ve played vs Toronto this year.

Hopefully we can win one today.

Streaks are fun too, but do Blue Jays know how to hold on to a broom? 😁

We’re 3-12 over the last 15 games, and it really does feel like it, doesn’t it?

Have to laugh at how things seem to just get worse with our lousy personnel. Wonder what the Cubs offered for OHoppe?

You think Ward is still a little salty for the pitch he took to the face?

You’re joking, right? Dude threw his teammates under the bus after the game. get this fool of the team. He’s the Angels version of Corey Perry, minus a ring.

I haven’t followed the team very closely this year. Is the under bus throwing from today?

Mark Langston was continually making the point that Francis was throwing 92 mph fastballs that were catching a lot of the plate. Langston speculated that the Angels’ hitters were having a tough time picking up the ball upon release.
