“Wheels” Guillorme and Zach Plesac Beat Back Brew Crew

5-3 Angels

A first place Milwaukee team led by a threatening top of the order rolled into Anaheim and got shut down by Zach Plesac, making his season debut. We could have been singing a very different tune if not for some all-around quality backup on this cool Monday night.

The game wouldn’t begin as the guys in red drew it up, however, with Plesac allowing a 2nd inning leadoff walk to come all the way around on a powerful line drive bomb off the bat of Jake Bauers. A team with a lot of baserunning prowess and power wasn’t the kind you’d want to get behind, but Luis Guillorme had some things to say about that.

The man we all know as Lightning Luis blasted a triple down the line that RF Sal Frelick couldn’t handle, sending Adell from 1st to the plate. Coasting into 3rd for a triple turned double turned triple, he would come home to score and tie it up on a Schanuel single. Bauers also botched an out at first to relinquish the lead which the Angels would not return. Zach Neto’s 4th inning 2-run shot would make sure of it.

That’s not to say it wasn’t close though. Plesac would finish out the 6th with only 3 runs allowed for a quality start, but it would have been tied if not for an incredibly lucky Luis Guillorme barely tapping the back of Gary Sanchez’s ankle on an ill-advised attempt to outrun him back to second. Of course, with The Flash at the hot corner, not a single Angels fan doubted whether he was out. Plesac then picked off Blake Perkins before allowing the last run of the game on a solo homer.

Plesac would pick up his first Major League W since April 15th of last season and the baby would be lit up.

The Angels look to take a series against a really good team tomorrow behind Griffin Canning.

I was there last night, and was pretty sure it was over after the top of the 2nd.

Miss UCSD and I were laying bets on exactly how the arson squad was going to implode. Happy to say we both lost our bets.

Who wants to keep Guillorme as our starter once Rendon comes back and how do we make that happen?

Soriano stomach issue? Diarrhea or pulled muscle (probably oblique) issue?

Anyone? Anyone? Suarez? Suarez? Anyone?

Kinda weird that Wash couldn’t even tell us after the game if it’s a sickness or an injury.
