Angels SWEEP Padres

The Angels had a chance to have a sweep at home. I repeat, the 2024 Angels had a chance to sweep the 2nd place Padres at the Big A. It would be Jose Soriano vs Dylan Cease, but, it was a real possibility. And it made no sense. The Angels SUCK at home, and the Padres do well on the road. Meaning that either the Big A was not away enough for the Padres to do well in, which was certainly a possibility given the crowds the last 2 games. Or, said crowd made it feel like an away game for the Angels. Maybe both?

Whatever the reason, it was up to Soriano to have a good game and give us a chance to see the Shufflebot once more. So, how did he do? He went 6 innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, striking out 1 and walking 1. For a game on National TV, or whatever FS1 calls themselves these days, it was a good showing.

Meanwhile, Soriano was cruising. Lo5s of grounball outs and stress free innings. Everything was looking up. Until the 6th when the defense fell apart.

And another run comes in because of Adell being unable to catch. Right when he won defensive player of the month!

Shaking my head, Jo Adell of the Angels. At least the load was barely intact and Soriano left with the chance of a win.

The bullpen did their job. Even Ben Joyce! Remember him? Throws fast. Like really fast? Yeah. And Matt Moore had a chance for the save and a sweep of the Padres. ANGELS WIN!

Upcoming

No game tomorrow. Thursday games are again not a thing for the Angels AGAIN. But they will next week… because there is no game Monday. As such, the Angels are going 4 man rotation until June 15th, which is something I would have liked to know earlier, but whatever. Oh and Trashos this weekend. Yay~
