Angels Lose Close One Postgame

Jose Soriano wasn’t his best and Cleveland scored 4 runs early in the top of the third. The Halos bats responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the frame. There was no scoring after that.

Thaiss will have a good game today I’m believing, he needs more playing time to be more effective. Great weather day, fun day at the Bid A should be had for all, I’m feeling a win today.

So far, I actually think hes improved this year behind the plate in his limited appearances. But offensively Thaiss looks like a mess. He showed much better plate discipline last year but this year his swing seems way too long to catch up to any major league pitches.

So Angels:

Show All  /  Hide All

05.26: Miguel Sano: Sano will have his rehab program delayed after burning himself with a heating pad,
Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. (Angels manager Ron Washington noted Sunday that it’s not considered a serious injury, but Sano will be held out of games for a couple of days, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Sano has two rehab appearances with the Arizona Complex League Angels, going 2-for-5 with two RBI. He was placed on the 10-day injured list May 1 due to left knee inflammation.)

At least the Doyers suck too. They should have spent more on free agents.

While Bill Shaikin one of the very few remaining LA Times “sports” writer holdovers and Doyer sycophant decides to write a story about the perils the Angels have had on relying upon prospects.

Was this dipshit even awake during the 2000’s ?

Maybe he should do a column on the perils of relying too much on political content instead covering the sports story and why no-one reads your rag anymore.

That’s because it’s Andrew’s fault ! Lol.

Of course he doesn’t add that part into his defense of Roberts.

The runs scored against Soriano were as much about pitch selection from whoever calls the pitches as anything Soriano did. He had the leadoff down 0-2 and the pitch call was the same pitch in the same location the batter had looked at in the prior at bat. This time he was waiting for that pitch and singled. Soriano appeared to throw the pitch correctly. Bad call.

Same with Ramirez. The Guardians have one good hitter — one. When guys are on base, how about pitching around him? When it’s 3-2 with first base open, how about a pitch out of the zone that he cannot drive. Instead, the pitch call was a ball dead in the zone and Ramirez cranked it. Soriano’s fault? No. The ump blowing the swing and strikeout was miserable also.

6-18 at home. .500 away. Not sure what this means, but feels important.

It means the team is 20-32 approximately 1/3 of the way through the season. While I expect their winning % to increase a bit at home from the current .250 pace, I also think the away win % is artificially high. I expect the team to land at around .400 for the season or around 65-ish wins.

Of course you do.

But a struggling young team with multiple injuries playing their toughest part of the schedule? I expect them to improve immensely going forward. They just need to start getting their shit together at home.

When the team plays at home, they have to perform maintenance on the stadium. This is a standard clause in every player contract Arte writes. The maintenance requires shift work by the players, and they have to buy their own supplies. The only “out” for the players are road games and injuries. Ward took a fastball to the grill just to get off of toilet cleaning duties last season.

I imagine that if the ump got the check swing correct, the lead sentence would not have been, ‘Jose Soriano wasn’t his best…’

The homer came after a run-scoring wild pitch. The umpires ruled José Ramírez didn’t swing on this 0-2 curveball, which allowed the at-bat to continue.

While there seems to be no concrete rule on a swing (other than the ump says it is a swing), that is a swing.

I think people here are starting to understand that one call, one missed strike, one bad check swing call can turn an entire game, even if that call happens in the 4th inning.

Yes. Turned me off football, then basketball. I think baseball has survived because of the length of the season.

Maybe you personally have know it, but alot of posters here have not. I can tell by the responses they have given when I have mentioned this in the past …

and btw, the AJ play happened very late, not early in the game, which was the point I was making.

Don’t you see – if it wasn’t the missed call, it would have been something else. It’s always something with this franchise.

It’s destiny density.

2 run HR after a strikeout of Ramirez.
Sucks when a game is Lost because of a Bad Call.
