9-3 Angels
When it rains runs for the Angels, it pours. Tonight was one of those rare times as Jo Adell set the tone for the game in the bottom of the second with a bomb and the rest of the squad backed up a solid Tyler Anderson.
It didn’t start off promising exactly, with an early run given up to Bobby Witt Jr., who had been uncharacteristically cold in the two previous Royals wins, but Tyler Anderson would buckle down as he has often done this season and pitch into the 7th. A couple other runs were scattered, but it was exactly the kind of performance the team needs. The bullpen only allowed one more hit too which is just, like, utterly mind-blowing in the context of this series.
The real story, however, was the breakthrough at the plate that was seen. The aforementioned Adell shot was fantastic, but Kevin Pillar actually is the one who stole the show today. Not only did he triple, but he actually had two singles with runners in scoring position. Responsible for 5 of the 9 runs on his very own, it is safe to say that this may not have been the blowout it ended up being if he hadn’t come to the plate today.
The Angels seek to even up the series tomorrow. Seth Lugo looks pretty scary, but give us a little bit more of this batted ball luck, and we can take home the coveted consecutive Ws that other teams so proudly flaunt.
Dirtbags retire Weaver’s number…ARTE???

This lineup is so far off from the opening day roster omg
Checks the scheduled starting pitcher for today : “Sandoval!” ( in a Seinfeld voice saying “Newman”) , so the over under for his start is probably 5 1/3 innings, 4 runs?
Parlay— Under on innings pitched, over on the runs. $1,000,000,00 Eppei Bucks.
Side action, $500,000 Eppei Bucks on each prop.
Over on errors while he pitches – 1.5
Over on pitches outside the strike zone greater than 18 inches – 8 (statcast is the decider)
Over on walks/hits after getting ahead 0-2 – 5.5
Over on 2 out runs given up – 3.5
Over on Head shaking/Looks of frustration – 4.5
100% winners ——- Don’t win day games, don’t win at home often, don’t win often period, don’t score runs game after scoring runs the day before, don’t score runs for Sandy, worst fielding when Sandy pitches, KC is way better than us, Angel line up of misfits and kids can’t win consecutive games. etc…
With a real closer and a couple clutch hits, they would’ve been closer to 18-22 ish and more like a Blue Jays – Mets squad than White Sox. I’m hoping that somehow the starters hold it together and the minors develops a couple relievers. If they finish with more than 75 wins after losing Ohtani than that’s an improvement
Skenes wasn’t all that last night…yes he’s got talent.
Another player being rushed to the Major Leagues!!
Small sample: 4IP 6H 3R 3ER 2BB 7K 1HR 6.75ERA
I hate his throwing mechanics, every pitch is max effort to the point he looks out of control after the release point. He’s clearly a talent – and I hope I’m wrong, but he looks destined for elbow reconstruction in the future.
Every pitcher is destined for TJS at some point. I think it’s impressive that Skenes hasn’t yet had it. A lot of kids are coming out of college with one TJS already.
He might be one of those guys with a more hearty arm ligament.
We shall see.
But, he needs to be able to throw secondary pitches for strikes. When he did yesterday, he looked unhittable. When his command was off – he got hit because he had to rely on the fastball.
Squad is slowly starting to put together a string of well played baseball.
Jo Adell is electric and on a little bit of a heater with 3 HRs in his last 4 games.
I just wanna see the boys keep grinding and fight their way back to .500. We haven’t finished a season at or above .500 since 2015 (wow lol).
Let’s split the series today 😇
I like seeing it finally click for Jo, mentally. You could tell. He’s not afraid that a bad swing would get him sent to the bench the next day, or get sent down (I know that’s no longer an option, but that was his reality the first 3 years in the bigs). He knows he’s here to stay and he can finally relax. I do hope he stays healthy for the rest of the season. We long-suffering Angels fans deserve to see a great season from a player, or two, or five, on yet what might be another lost season.
Let’s go for a series split! I was surprised when Patrick was interviewing Kevin last night he asked him they can go for a series win tomorrow. Kevin looked confused for a while too.
Oh because it can’t be said enough:
Pillar >>>>>>>>>> Hicks
I noticed that in the stadium last night too with Patty and “winning the series”. I was like huh. I guess in fairness .500 ball would be a huge win.
I’m a non believer.
We play the Cardinals next, after that we won’t play another crappy team till the Rockies at the end of July. Rangers, Astros, Mariners, Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Cubs, Yankees , D Backs, Brewers, Guardians and a much improved Tigers and A’s. How many losses do think we’ll have in early August after walking through that minefield ? Trade everyone now that has a speck of value (bye Taylor Ward!!!).
Non-Believer?
Estevez saves…..sometimes. Just don’t believe in him two days in a row.
Quality Start and we scored a bunch of runs…GOOD TIMES!!!
One last comment for tonight. I like to wait 40 games before being confident knowing what we have. I think 25 games was enough but I feel 40 gives us a truer picture.
On the other hand it’s still not clear how we stack up in the West because we haven’t played the other teams yet. It is slightly possible that our 15-25 record is due to having a very tough schedule.
I’m not impressed with the other division teams. We might be one of the better AL West teams, like maybe 3rd as a ceiling. I’m not giving up until we’ve played those divisional games
If you were to make judgment now. You would believe the Astros are a last place team
Maybe they are. Maybe having to let go with other players (Springer, Correa, or even Maldonado, Brantley) has finally caught up to them.
Or maybe it is just the injuries – but that wasn’t enough of an excuse for the Angels over the years.
They are just reloading their farm system for another run.
I don’t believe we are 15-25 bad either.
Schedule has been comically hard out of the gate and we have lost 11 players to the IL.
Schedule doesn’t look any easier anytime soon.
Pretty crazy haha ! There’s no let up whatsoever
We get to play the A’s eventually.
A’ss is better than we are, so are the Ass’tros, trAdition says so…..it’s not the schedule when everyone on the schedule is better than you.
White Sox’s, Marlins, Rockies, maybe Pirates and us…death match to the bottom.
My prediction we will get healthy again (months from now), have a meaning less spurt, and move up the ”over-all bottom dweller” standings.
Run it back in 2025.
Right. When you’re one of the worst teams in the league the schedule is always gonna be tough.
Must’ve forgot that they swept us last year.
They’re better and we’re way worse.
Wait – huh? That doesn’t make sense. The schedule is the schedule. As for injuries, this franchise has had a consistent run of major injuries over the past few years.
Knowing that Ohtani is gone and not replaced, and realizing the schedule and the recent health of key players like Trout and Rendon, you seriously expected the record to be better after 45 games?
This was so predictable someone new to sports could have seen it coming.
I appreciate your daily dose of delusional hopium, but c’mon man!
For what it’s worth, Estevez has the 2nd worst ERA on the team. Only Suarez has a higher one.
Wash must make the change now. He can phrase it as “getting Carlos back to form by pitching in less stressful situations”.
Baseball is weird. Canning pitched better last night and we ended up losing.
Speaking for weird, Cubs-Pirates, qty-6 bases loaded walks in one inning and Maddon was not even at the ballpark.
162 gm season.
Good thing this isn’t college football with just a 13 game season.
Righteous!
I’ll take it though
We’re not in last place again!
The start of a new streak?
Yep tonight should have been Shuffle Bot eve.
