We don’t need till June to come to the very obvious conclusion that Ron Washington and his staff are a massive improvement over Sir Philip Nevin and his staff lol.
I don’t think you can make that evaluation based on a handful of Spring Training games. Let’s see how the team does when the games count. Let’s evaluate bullpen usage and decisions and player performance when it matters. I would love to believe that magically this coaching staff is going to fix all the ills of the Angels Org so quickly and easily. But I don’t believe in such fantasy. I think it’s reasonable to wait until the team is playing real games to determine the impact of the coaching staff. What if they are 18 games under .500 on June 10? Will the coaching staff still be saviors?
I agree ‘71. I think what’s been missed on multiple player interviews is that they’ve said they want to impress the new coaches. The players want big league jobs/contracts and feel like there is a clean slate to work with. Can the lessons being taught now be applied in the regular season, can it be sustained, etc. We shall see
And how do we know they are better until we are able to see the regular season results. Most of the conclusions on this site about the coaching staff have been based on supposition and what Rex has said. I’d prefer to wait until there is some proof in the pudding.
There is a real possibility this team could lose 100 games. If so, what will it say about the coaching staff? I think we need more evidence to draw any conclusions.
Trust me, I have my “issues” with P12. He’s a KC chef bandwagoner and he enjoys music by Usher. That makes him highly suspect in my book, but let the man “cook” with his 15 WAR Ron propaganda. It’s fun.
Tooooo funny!!! Buts who’s going to check in on him under the bed with his blankie when/if things don’t work out for player X Y or Z?!? 75% failure rate for hitters these days is an All Star, that broke clock might be right moar this year than some of our hitters, but let’s pop that Dom for every ‘good eye’ on a ball outside the zone they have
Geez ’71 No-one is declaring we’re World Series bound or even that we’ll experience a huge improvement in wins but if you can’t at least admit the coaching staff has vastly improved than what we’ve seen the last couple of years then you may need some serious therapy .
By watching Cactus League games or even just reviewing Rex’s great photos should be evidence enough. And at the very least it should be patently obvious our youngin’s will be able to take advantage of some of this overdue fundamental training for many years to come.
Yeah there is. its called “NFW Neto is going all Cal Ripken on us this year and Rengifo couldn’t back up short to save his life.”
Everyone here wants to go on that DeNile cruise ’78 has planned because there is no way Sano gets the nod over Adrianza or Soto for the last bench spot. Now if one of the Rens needs to start the season on the IL……
11 strikeouts in 29 ST PAs ? That might be little bit of an exaggeration there P12.
I’m believing the Bobby V philosophy who’s long time hitting coach advocated that big guys take longer to get their bats ready in spring. So a trip the great SL to start the season maybe in order
9-6. So…um…at that rate, 90-60 then 12 games…7-5 I’d say so 97 wins!! We’re going to the playoffs!
Noone said there’d be any math.
Sam Blum wins it for us!!
let’s get a run and win
Sano >> Rendone
My first time getting an extended look at Plesac as an Angel.
Don’t think I really need to see much more.
Is his uncle available?
Yes on MLB network.
i think Plesac and Kolarek are the worst signings. Still undecided on Cimber.
For depth you can stash in the minors for around $1 million each? I think that makes them great signings.
how is it depth if they can’t pitch?
They’ve pitched effectively before they’ll pitch effectively again.
They can work out the bugs in the Salty lake air.
I cannot get worked up over a $1M pitcher with some sketchy outings in spring training and I like the stash idea
Good Ole Fleasack
Sleestak?
Can we sign Chaka to round out the roster?
I think he can handle SS/2B
Yes he has returned to the depths of the Great Salt Lake.
Seems to me that in general the coaching staff has improved dramatically for 2024.
Source? Feelz? Can we get to June before issuing proclamations?

Show me ONE person or post where a active member of this board is claiming that this staff is going to fix all organizational problems.
Some people are simply pointing out that this staff is better than the previous regime – particularly from a fundamental instruction point of view.
You’re making a straw-man argument.
Ummm…..15 WAR?!

If you don’t realize that 15 WAR is hyperbole then…. I don’t know what to say.
Granted that it’s all supposition until the season is completed and we evaluate at the end, but the early returns appear to be positive.
People are having fun. In all probability, they’ll finish under .500 and you’ll have plenty of opportunity to wax poetic on how bad they are.

but as a KC chef hes probably damn good at BBQ

YA “Feelz”…kinda like Scioscia who won the W/S for us.
I don’t need a bunch of fancy stats to know we’re better.
In coaching department…still don’t have enough pitching.
that was absolutely crushed by Sano. Still have a hard time seeing him make the team. I think Hicks versatility gives him a leg up.
Or we roll with Sano as the backup 3B/1B.
Rengifo will be the backup 2B/SS and Sano backup 3B/1B/DH
Outfield: Trout, Hicks, Moniak, Adell, Ward
Infield: Rendon (ha), Neto, Rengifo, Schanuel, Sano
Catchers: O’Hoppe, Thaiss
That’s 12 position players so there is one spot available. The lack of a true DH really opens things up.
I take back my post above.
Yeppers. That’s the breakdown.
There’s no reason Stefanic, Soto or Adrianza should be taking that last spot over Sano. The upside with Sano is lightyears above those 3.
Yeah there is. its called “NFW Neto is going all Cal Ripken on us this year and Rengifo couldn’t back up short to save his life.”

Drury?
There’s the obvious miss. Add him to the infield line and we’re at 13 position players.
Will be a good pinch hitting bench. Some speed too.
Speed? As in Greenies or ball players who can run? I think the Angels are light.
Hicks, Mickey or Adell would have to be cut/traded for Sano to make the team. I dont think that will be happening but you never know.
SANO IS MAKING THIS TEAM
LETS GO
Let’s go Taylor Ward. Always pulled for that guy because he’s Bulldog. Once he signed a ball for my son, he became one of my favorites.
So far so good for Taylor Ward.
Fat Boy needs to go see a psychologist . This RISP block is getting Baaaad.
So does TrAdition dictate that the Projected 2024 Salt Lake Bees could be the projected 2024 Los Angeles Angels of Corrupt Anaheim in a short series?
Another good AB for Sano
tAdition
kinda miss fat trout.
Runner on third with no outs. Let’s see if this year is going to be any different than last year.
heh.
Answer: Nope, we still suck.
I thought we got a new third base coach. Same old dumb bunny moves.
first time i saw ohtani pitch was 2018 sprint training vs rockies.
they violently assaulted him and he didnt make it past the 2nd.
soriano can learn from this. or not. who knows.
1 bad inning in ST, where he’s being stretched out for the 1st time in years.
shouldnt have gotten this Sano Szn tattoo
He’s a regular szn type of guy
Sano puts up good ABs consistently. However the numbers don’t support it rn
11 strikeouts in 29 ST PAs ? That might be little bit of an exaggeration there P12.
I’m believing the Bobby V philosophy who’s long time hitting coach advocated that big guys take longer to get their bats ready in spring. So a trip the great SL to start the season maybe in order
He’s always been a strikeout machine. I appreciate the way he works counts.
Professional ABs. FWIW, I agree and think he starts in AAA too
Soriano has the stuff, albeit his fastball can be very hittable as it was in the 2nd.
Letting him redevelop as a starting in AAA is fine by me.
