Arte is already convinced he has a great farm. It is incredible. Best farm he’s ever seen. People come up to him in the street all the time and tell him what a great farm he has it is that great. Really.
He heard about the new fanatics jerseys that left uh little to the imagination. Also only comes in one size, schmedium, which is not one size fits all.
I tend to not be concerned about early Spring pitching performances and more about batting.
Because we never know what the pitchers are up to. They could be like “today I’m just going to work on my slider and nothing else” and get lit up.
Agreed and I get he’s probably working on stuff but the way he managed his baserunners and defense was an embarrassment for a pitcher entering his MLB prime years.
I mean isn’t that what ST is for to work on this stuff? I saw ZERO effort during his outing even if he didnt have the best fastball today.
Am I wrong that he might have gotten out of the second if not for a missed play by Dozier (I was listening on the radio, but it sounded like that).
Missed change up leads to the run scoring in the second, but comes back with a good changeup to finish his outing. In his first ST start, there are some positive signs, no?
Sano still looks behind at the plate. With Rengifo’s injury there maybe an extra roster spot to start the season (over and above Adrianza winning a bench spot) so this is not a good start for Sano even if he looks fit and trim.
Sano did better than Dozier though, right? Is backup 1B/3B a thing we need? Or just someone who can play 1B? Perhaps with Andrianza, Soto and Paris, we can use Drury at 1B in a pinch?
The fun thing about having zero expectations is that you have zero expectations.
Taps forehead
Fletcher apparently has the best ST batting avg…
😄
Not his brother Dom.
That’s how he rolls, he’s either super hot or super cold.
Unfortunately super hot is much shorter than super cold.
Bobby V is not an easy listen. Missing Langston and kinda wish Terry was just doing the solo thing. Oh well.
Wouldn’t be ST with error-fests. We’ve been on the receiving end of quite a few unearned runs this spring. I’ll certainly take it!
I haven’t been excited about a player like O’Hoppe since Trout.
To quote Jack Black:
“He’s got it. I don’t even know what it is, but he’s got it”
Big year coming for him.
I think O’Hoppe is the next fan favorite.
Ironically, he came in a trade for the guy I had pegged as my favorite youngster.
Losing Marsh was tough to take. But if O’Hoppe blossoms as projected that will take all of he sting out of the trade.
We got Moniak as well. Not sure how Sanchez is doing, who we gave up as well, but one of the few trades I’d say we won by a lot.
Moniak was traded for Syndergaard, but I think we clearly won that trade as well.
Yep.
Syndergaard was one of Perry’s most questionable signings, but he did a good trade in the end.
Is Moniak = or > than our 2022 second round draft pick?
Thats really the question. (well that and the $13 million we paid Thor before the trade)
Well, if you include the $13MM, you need to include the value of Thor’s playing with us as well, not just Moniak.
Well he needs to work on his base throwing ( But then again so did MNT)
Ditto and I’m also excited about Nolan Schanuel, too.
I need to see a bit more before I get too excited, but the potential is there!
Bobby V thinks the Angels should have half a dozen Top 100 prospects.
If only Arte could afford to have him in the front office…

They come up to him with tears in their eyes.
I think what people are actually telling him is that they hope that he buys the farm soon. He just doesn’t understand what they mean.
We win, 4-3!
First back to back jacks of the year!!
The Angels should release Hunter Dozier after this game so he can pursue “other Opportunities”
Hey it worked for Mejia who was able to catch on with the Rays again
I’d love to know the real reason with Mejia.
First it was to give our younger catchers more opportunities then it was supposedly for Mejia’s benefit.
Sanó has lost 56 pounds?!?!
He heard about the new fanatics jerseys that left uh little to the imagination. Also only comes in one size, schmedium, which is not one size fits all.
No doubt 😂
Brozempic
No doubt
I once ate a bag of something like 30 mini donuts at a game at Peoria. The price was something stupid like $5 for a dozen or $10 for 30.
The first 10 were incredible and then things went downhill. Fortunately a kid sitting by us helped me down the stretch.
One of the best ballpark snacks I’ve ever had.
Love the commitment

That kid will remember you forever.
That’s awesome 🙂
Just tuning in. Looks like Detmers was pretty bad.
I’ll look at the positive and say guys have to get on base to have LOBsters. Hopefully that continues.
I tend to not be concerned about early Spring pitching performances and more about batting.
Because we never know what the pitchers are up to. They could be like “today I’m just going to work on my slider and nothing else” and get lit up.
(Whereas no batter is going to the plate in Spring thinking “I’m just going to work on trying to swing and miss really well today”)
Sure, but they will work on different approaches, leg kicks, angles, etc.
yeah, I’m not really concerned about either.
Pitchers are either just trying to get in a few pitches or working on something. They aren’t really pitching.
Hitters aren’t seen much breaking stuff.
If Detmers is our new no. 1 we are in DST
Ugly but better now than next month

I mean Willie Calhoun’s homer we’re probably not reading into *too* much so lets wait until April to hang Reid.

aka ‘Lobsters for Lunch’
this seems like the poorest line up of 2024. Go Reid
