Actually there was study done years ago by the Elias Sports Bureau that said in some instances yes. I recall if a team came off of season with a seriously losing record in one run games and then had a spring training record of 150 percentage points or more higher than the last years regular season record, they were a statistic lock to win at least 10 games or more in the upcoming regular season. Since we had a slight winning record in one run games at 22-21, this statistical harbinger would, of course, not apply to us in 2024.
Rangel is a strange pickup. There’s nothing in his history that says he could be effective but I suppose he’s got a fast fastball.
