Chase Silseth came back to pitch one tonight. Here are the starting lineups.
Inning 1:
After a Ryan Noda strikeout, Chase Silseth loaded up the bases with walks in the first inning but got out of the jam with a double play.
In commemoration of the walks, I leave you with this masterpiece. “But when she goes walking, she just does not see.”
The Angels went three up three down in their half of the first.
Inning 2:
Silseth got two strikeouts and a ground out to get through the Athletics half of the second inning. Logan O’Hoppe singled but Grichuk, Adell, and Moniak contributed a fly out and two strikeouts to make sure there was no score.
Inning 3:
After getting a line out and a ground our, Chase Silseth hit Zach Gelof by a pitch. Brent Rooker doubled to make it 1-0 Athletics. That was it for the top of the first as JJ Bleday flied out. Michael Stefanic walked. David Fletcher singled on a bunt to the pitcher. LOL! And people say he has no power. He has the power to advance the runner without making an out. That’s something. Nolan Schanuel walked to load them up. Zach Neto struck out. Brandon Drury popped out and Logan O’Hoppe lined out.
Inning 4:
Aledmys Diaz singled but Lawrence Butler popped out and then Esteury Ruiz hit a grounder that turned out to be a double play after a successful Angels challenge.
Randal Grichuk singled. Adell popped out but Moniak also singled to give men at first and second with one out. The Plumber lined out but David Fletcher singled to drive in Randal Grichuk. 1-1 tie.
Nolan Schanuel got a four seamer he liked and singled in Mickey Moniak. David Fletcher also scored because JJ Bleday managed to get both a fielding error and a throwing error on the same play. 3-1 Angels.
Zach Neto was hit by a pitch but Brandon Drury made the third out.
Inning 5:
Davis Daniel came in to replace Chase Silseth. I thought Daniel was in the AFL. Oh well. The Athletics made three outs with a walk in between. Logan O’Hoppe walked. Randal Grichuk flied out. Logan O’Hoppe made it to second on a wild pitch while Jo Adell was batting and then Adell made an out on a pop up to the catcher. Mickey Moniak homered. 5-1 Angels. So much for the tank.
Inning 6:
Davis Daniel retired the As in order. Fletcher and Schanuel both made quick outs but Zach Neto singled. Brandon Drury singled, driving Neto to third. Logan O’Hoppe lined out to end the inning.
Inning 7:
Davis Daniel came out for a third inning of work and retired the Athletics in order. The Angels also got retired in order.
Inning 8:
Davis Daniel came out for a fourth inning of work and retired the Athletics in order. I don’t know. Maybe this guy is kind of competent. Bring him out for the ninth for crying out loud. Angels went three up three down again.
Inning 9:
All right. It looks like the Angels are probably going to have to win this one. Daniel struck out Brent Rooker. JJ Bleday lined out to center. Oh my God! Oh my God! Aledmys Diaz singled. Panic attack. Lawrence Butler also singled and we can’t bring in Loup. Davis Daniel got Esteury Ruiz to fly out to end the game. Angels win 5-1.

The Team MVP hardware has made its appearance on the field.
Rengifo or Shohei accepting it?
It’s gonna be close between those two, I tell ya
People laughing at me as I was driving up I-5 with big red Angels flags on my car
This is the time to fly them.

YES! 4-3 final.
Squeezed it out! Now hopefully the Mets win the 2nd game as well.
That was very close. Top of the 9th, Ottavino let Wilson steal his way to 3rd from 1st with 1-out.
Mets ahead in game 2!
Woot!
Yikes. Andrew Heaney vs. Luis Castillo today on Fox. The Jerry’s favored today, forcing some nail biting on Sunday. Seattle -150 on a 20 cent line.
Screw The Jerry’s!
Being both a lifelong Browns and Angels fan, things like this don’t surprise me anymore 😀
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game after burning himself lighting fire pit….dont play with matches

The Foundation Building Materials’ keystone of the game for the Angels today is “Funeral Blues” by WH Auden.

silence the pianos
and with muffled drum
bring out the coffin
let the mourners come
let aeroplanes circle overhead
scribbling on the sky the message:
the Angels’ 2023 season is finally dead
The pants style I really hated was popular at the end of Barry Bonds’ career when the pants were so long they covered the shoe laces and went under the heel so you were stepping on your pants with each step you took.

We are last in stolen bases (71). KCR leads the league with 161.
Golfing Schanuel style. Love the wild shoelaces.
This could be a fun group to watch next year.
Who’s got the ball?
Neto got an award last night.
Gotta root for Mets to win both sides of the double header with Philly today.
Go Marlins!!
