I don’t think so. Esty’s already showing signs of fatigue. And not just with the last game, he’s been hittable lately. I really think if Esty’s been in there instead this would have been his first blown save of the season.
If this was a close game throughout, I would have rather saved Esty for one loss if it means he stays healthy and effective the entire season. But it was an 8-2 game in the 7th!!!! There should have been no reason for Nevin for being forced to use Webb, Soriano and Devenski.
And for the record, I agree with not using Esty in the 9th. It was probably killing him to not be out there. But I think it’s the right decision by Nevin to let him rest more
I won’t be too upset with Devo since he’s saved our bacon innumerable times… He was due to have an off game … Unfortunately, he had one the same day as Soriano did…
Yeah I get that. I don’t expect the bullpen to be perfect. Esty will eventually have a blown save, Devenski having inherited runners score, etc.
But this wasn’t a 4-3 game, it was an 8-2 game. That’s what’s the most frustrating. And I don’t even blame Nevin for putting Ingram when he did. It was the perfect situation to put him in. Ingram just plain sucked. And he dragged the rest of the bullpen with him.
Gotta send Ingram down. You can’t debut with two walks and two hits to the worst team in baseball in low leverage innings, on the day the team could grab WC2. That’s not an MLB-ready arm.
This is beyond pitiful. Worst thing is, they’re had more than a handful of these meltdown types of games this season, not the hallmark of a team that’s gonna go far.
Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Ouch.
Was it a bad omen to use the “Scream” cartoon for the game thread ??
Perhaps.
It was a bad omen making bad pitches to the royals crappy lineup
That was devastating, makes tomorrow a must win
Totally.
Ingram (not so) Micro ERA
Estevez not being available likely made a difference in the 9th

Fkn owned by the worst team. Thanks bullpen
Inexcusable!! Just clicked on to see the final after leading BIG all day.
Well, if it wasn’t Devenski, it would have been Loup. 🤷♂️
Devenski has been amazing. So not really that surprising he is human. Oh well. Tough one but look forward to Fathers Day baseball.
Agree.

I’m definitely not upset with Devenski, Webb and heck, even Soriano. This game should have been an extended off day for them.
Not the least bit upset with Nevin either. There was one clear, unanimous blame of the game.
This. Move on.
Bullpen has been super great. Had to have a bad game. Turn the page.

Freaking stupid Saturday games!!!
Can we skip playing Saturday for the rest of the season?
8-2, TO 9-10, THIS HURT A LOT! Screaming yellow Zonker’s!!!!!
And it was KC!
Come back and win tomorrow. 2/3 ain’t bad
Too many free passes and shoddy defense
Whatever
Well deserved L.
Exactly
So much shame to go around.

Not only that, but to keep pace with TX as well for the division, who happened to win today.
Yuk.
Freaking Royals walk off

Unbelievable
