Jaime Barria is back in the rotation for the first time since August 6th 2022 against the Mariners. Out of the 3 options for the 6th man now that Suarez is injured, Barria has been my choice. His pitching makeup is more stable for a short starter than as a long reliever due to a more reliable way of pitching even if the raw talent isn’t as good.
Well, he proved me ___ going 5 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, striking out 6 and walking none. All on 64 pitches! Amazing! He could have gone even more, but he was pulled after 5 to go out on a high note.
Orrrrrrr… Phil is an idiot since LOUP WAS PUT IN! LOUP! WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU PUT LOUP IN A 1 RUN GAME!?! Anyway Loup blew it and it is all Phil’s fault. Or Perry, or Arte, or maybe it was Andrew all along. Point being, WHY IS LOUP STILL ON THE TEAM?!
Anyway, this ended up being a pitching duel, where one swing of the bat could decide it all.
Highlighted Recap
Angels get the first run of the game! On a bunt! Well, an accidental swinging bunt, but still!
Barria was done after 5, but only because Phil made him leave after 5 despite being under 70 pitches. For who? Loup of course! He promptly blew it.
Thankfully, Phil also pulled him as fast as he could, and Devenski was able to limit it to just a tied game.
In the 8th, as this pitching duel was making hits a premium, M-I-C-K-E-Y hit one out to give the Angels the lead again!
Silseth went 2 innings to get the win and shut the Red Sox down in their smug Boston-y faces.
Upcoming
More Boston in Anaheim tomorrow. Ew. At least it won’t be as bad on a Tuesday as it would on a weekend. At 26-23, the Angels win the first game against Boston! LTBU!
