Angels Ram it in St. Louis, Win 6-4

May the 3rd is the day before May the 4th, and as such, The Force was not quite with us.

Shohei Ohtani had his streak of 3 hits allowed (or fewer) snapped, as he gave up 4 runs in only 5 innings. It wasn’t pretty, as he had multiple wild pitches as was erratic, yet his 13K showed how great his stuff was, when it wasn’t going into the stands. Very Nolan Ryan of him, and if it was the 70’s he would go a full 9, alas, only 5 and the bullpen had to do the rest.

Good outing?

Which wouldn’t matter as long as the offense was inept. They would need to score more than 4 to win. Against a very meh SP, this was very doable. Alas, they only got 3. Battle of the bullpens would decide this game.

And it turns out, their Loup is worse than our Loup as St. Louis blows the save and the Angels win!

Highlighted Recap

Cards struck first with a home run in the first.

1-0 Cards

Drury tied it, however in the top of the 2nd.

Rick in shambles

Ohtani gave himself the lead in the 3rd with a single.

2-1 Angels

Renfroe then got another across.

3-1 Angels

Alas, Ohtani had a rough 4th, allowing a double to score a run.

3-2 Angels

And a home run as well.

4-3 Cards

First time in a long time Ohtani gave up 2 home runs in a game. He did get 13K though, and 500 in his career.

13/15 outs were strikeouts

In the top of the 9th, still down 1, the Angels sent out a sacrificial Lamb to hit a home run. Wait what?

TIED GAME!

Trout then put the Angels on top!

GOAT!

And then Rendon doubled in Ohtani for an insurance run.

6-4 Angels

Esteves closed it out and the Angels won! Series win, 3 in a row!

Upcoming

Angels get one more in St. Louis tomorrow, and go for the sweep. Clutch win!

Any news on Walsh? If he could come back and be even close to what he was before he was hurt, the lineup is seriously deep.

I always thought they were saying “Houdini!” but it must have been “Ohtani!”

It is just that people here expect Mike to hit a home run every time up and jump on him when he fails. I get it, expect greatness when one is great.

“what have you done for me today” mentality we all have (myself included) – we need trout to go 1.000 in those sitches otherwise we blame Dad/Arte.

It’s not that he doesn’t have clutch moments but more that he isn’t consistently as good when it matters. FWIW his career OPS is 1.001 which validates my point. Not hating on Mike Trout just stating facts. He is the best Angel of all time IMO.

I’ve given Trout a lot of crap for coming up small in big moments, but that was awesome tonight. Really rose to the moment tonight. Happy to eat as much crow as anyone wants to give me. Super fun to watch a late inning comeback, much moreso than being on the other side. Let’s get one more tomorrow and build some momentum for the tough schedule ahead.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/05/angels-interested-in-gary-sanchez.html Not sure how this would work. But it makes sense since Nevin knows him from their Yankee days together.

Bud Light is not beer. And it should be boycotted — not for any political reason — but because it sucks.

I boycott all beer. Always though it was bitter and tasted awful. I feel the same way about coffee. I don’t understand why people drink them. It makes games a little more expensive as beer usually costs less than mixed drinks.

Worst 17 and 14 team ever. Bullpen is awful and just hiding it well of late. We can’t possibly win with Rendon… doing anything. Loup and Rengifo exist and I am hot and moist behind the eyes and stuff. Obviously depth pieces are horrid and contribute nothing nevah. This was not against a good team. We did not sign Vlad Guerrero Jr nor did we draft (Enter Name Here) and also Maitan. No Joc Pederson still. Ohtani hates everyone. I’m gonna go eat my oysters and mint jelly sandwich with a warm Squirt and count the weeds in my lawn by flashlight.

Yes, I can translate Gitch-speak for the masses.

Having read his posts with interest over the last 14 months I am now able to decipher the deeper layers of meaning that are not apparent in a superficial reading of his posts.

In this post, the Gitch is using hyperbole to express his extreme satisfaction with the Halos’s first 31 games of the season.

He is wildly optimistic about the team’s post-season chances and is looking forward to the team’s surge in the coming months….

Go Halos….

So many things are going right for the Angels today, I am confused.

– Come from behind in the 9th
– Clutch hitting by Trout
– Tepera scoreless inning
– Neto’s finger not broken
– Nevin decided to use Estevez two days in a row like a smart manager
