Angels promote Zach Neto, demote David Fletcher

Looking for a spark, the Angels have called up top prospect Zach Neto and sent utility player David Fletcher to AAA.

This is what I personally enjoy. Young players making their debut and hopefully starting a long career. It’s the thing I love most about watching baseball.

I am a bit sad for Fletch – one of my Favs from when he first came up. Hopefully he turns things around.

I like this move. Aside from Trout and Ohtani, I would make a point to stop and watch Neto hit in spring training. He has a swagger this team is lacking. Will he take his lumps? Of course but he could be the spark they need.

Good lineup today. Lamb is benched even though a right hander is on the mound. Urshela is at first base.

Not seeing O’Hoppe’s name in the lineup sucks but he does need to forfeit one start a week I suppose.

Yeah, that is right, but I knew it was his day off.

is this bumping Soto to Bama? Squid and Fletch will get the SLC at bats

Squid is not long for this organization.

I think Plumber goes before the Squid. At least Squid has skill on one side of the equation, that being defense and speed.

What does Squid mean, how did he get that nickname.

Neto is sneaky stellar- his arm is a rocket and he puts the barrel on the ball

elated with this – I’ve been pining for a real SS since the end of 2021 and here he is!

just start him everyday, keep Rendon at 3rd, and rotate Gio, Drury, Giffey, Fletch at 2b.

being an ASU grad, I’ve always measured him against Pedrosia and think he’s a ahead of him now.

I don’t think Fletch comes back for a while unless there are injuries. Walsh and Cabbage should be the next infielders that get promoted and there’s only so many roster spots you can use on infielders.

If Fletch comes up, Neto’s probably going back down.

Looking forward to Neto getting his shot.

Go Halos!!!

The Halos should appeal yesterday’s game as the BoSox uniforms were a crime against humanity. Maybe that’s why the game was on the damn Apple game crap.

While not quite a real “youth movement” it is nice to have the lineup infused with some youthful energy and enthusiasm. At this point I am ready to boot Rengifo for good, possibly in favor of Neto.

Last night totally shifted my view on Rengifo.

I was so infuriated with his selfishness that I was done. It was like one trial learning…

Man, Neto has got to be stoked making his MLB debut in Boston, less than a year from his last game with the Fighting Camels of Campbell U.

1 hump or 2? 5 inches of eye black is cool if he hits it and catches it!

Like seeing Neto called up. Let Fletcher play everyday in SLC and then bring him up as a super-utlity guy when Walsh returns.

Fletch has some work to do. He did get robbed of a double the other day, but that was just one hit.

Wow! Perry certainly isn’t waiting.

Didn’t think Fletch could still be optioned. I thought for sure it would be a Lamb DFA.

That’s gotta suck for Fletch. But I hope he finds his swing when he gets to play everyday.

Lamb knows to travel light, he should know that he’s the odd man out, unless Phillips is released and Walsh is the 4th OFer.

Perry has never hesitated to bring folks up early, it’s a bold move and I like it. Expect to see bullpen help before AS game

Way too late, if the team has aspirations this year.

Really? We stand 1.5 out of first in the AL West behind Texas. Even with how ‘bad’ we have been playing, we are ahead of the Astros. It isn’t the end of the world, and we are already adjusting.

That’s a bold move. Neto has mashed since starting in the minors and I really hope this works out.

Love giving Neto a shot. I am a Fletcher fan and hope he can turn it around in SLC. Lamb should be jettisoned, and Squid brought up to be utility. Rengifo is not a MLB 2B, he has cost this team a lot with his lack of range, and he is not hitting the cover off the baseball to justify his playing everyday.

Urshella is a corner infielder as is Drury a corner infielder. I would rather have Fletcher at 2B when Neto is at short so Neto doesn’t have any concerns making the DP plays.
