Clearly we signed him for the .466 OPS.

I thought it was for the stellar .144 avg and the -.01 WAR!

Whew, that’s a relief. For a brief moment, I thought Perry might be really going for it.

His middle name is “Maverick”. We need to re-sign “Goose” and we’ve got half the volleyball team.

The next step is seeing who we now have to release because the 40-man was full…

I was wondering what happens if Mike Tomlin finishes under .500. Do the magnetic poles flip? The return of the dinosaurs? Does he morph into a statue that can only come back to life if the Steelers win a Super Bowl?

But nay! They actually got over .500. So I still have no idea.

I wish the Lions had made the play offs. They sure are fun to watch. The NFC…. No one Fkn Cares. So may exciting match ups in that conference. Zazz! The Cowboys! The Giants! Focus on the meh!

The Angels still haven’t signed a top shortstop or a center fielder who can hit and I still don’t give a shit.

Well if the Ref’s didn’t gift the game to the Seahawks yesterday , you may have gotten your wish with the Lions.

I know. That was a little annoying. Still, with my team out of the picture, there are still plenty of teams I’d be happy to allow a championship while the Steelers rest their awesomeness for a year or two. Much the same way I root for Morocco to win the World Cup, I’d like to see Jacksonville win. If the Bills win imagine the giant wave of joy that will sweep across the nation from Buffalo. That’d be cool. Pretty much the whole AFC accept the Ravens is fine with me. Eagles? Sure, why not? 49ers…. meh, but it would make my dad happy, so OK.

Plenty to still enjoy this post season. I LOVE Wild Card Weekend.

Speaking of refs handing teams games, I tuned in for the last 5 minutes or so of game time to the Lakers/Kings game Saturday.

Took me about two minutes to remember why I no longer watch the NBA.

Apparently being in the same gym as Lebron when he has the ball is enough to warrant a foul. Same with sliding laterally while a Laker has the ball late.

Browns fans never need to ponder such deep philosophical questions…

Not likely they fire Stefanski (and they should). The plan to stop the decades long suck’age is to hire a new DC and Special Teams coach. They also will require that Stefanski wear a Dan Campbell approved “Grit Hat” at all times…and mega dose him with Nugenix Total-T Testosterone Man Boosting Formula with Testofen….that will get us over the hump…..9-8 next year!

The dude on the Browns who should be fired is the front office genius who signed off on the $230,000,000 guarantee to another fine citizen, Deshaun Watson.

If it was the Owner maybe its finally time to take a Flying J out of the NFL.

It’s the owner “see Arte and Pujols” …..both of them tie for arguably the dumbest $250,000,000 contracts decision in the history of sports.

“Jimmy Jack The Rebate” has a lot in common with Arte.

It’s not just the contract but the draft picks that went with it.

You can absorb one mega contract if you have a bunch of cheap players contributing around him. But they won’t.

Browns went from a team on the rise to Same Old Browns in one move. Sucks for their fans.

It’s a shame. The Browns were going places. Now they are just gonna get collectively jizzed on by Watson and his contract for years and years.

Watson brought a 5 year supply of his favorite “massage towels” when he signed with the Browns.

They can use those those to wipe up with.

I’m sad Portland seems to be out of the running. That great city is going through some stuff. Eric can probably speak on that better than I can.

well there’s no place to play. I don’t believe there’s the will to spend the money to build a ballpark. The only possibility I can see is if MLB grants an expansion team with ownership having 3 to 5 years to get ready. No team will move to Portland if the only available park seats 20,000. And that’s a soccer stadium now.

But let’s say there were going to be an expansion team. Where would the park be built? Downtown is impossible. There’s no room. By the way, I haven’t been downtown since covid started and I don’t plan to go anytime soon. There are enough boarded up storefronts in my part of town. I don’t need to see others.

There was speculation that a ballpark could be built along the river, which would be cool, a little north of downtown. Traffic would be a mess but it could work. There’s also talk of using the space now occupied by a failed mall. But again, I think a ballot measure to fund it would fail. The prevailing thought is the city has bigger problems.

Yes – terrible what has happened to one of my favorite cities. Most of our favorite restaurants have closed. Many of the shops we used to frequent are boarded up. We were there a couple months ago – homeless problem out of control and the Mayor’s office calls them ‘campers’. The great city of Portland is in decline and it pisses me off.

A good city doing great things greatly can take on many visual forms. You just need to open your mind to other forms of a good.

I guess. I’m not sure what good comes from closed businesses and drug addled 20-somethings wasting their lives.

The only positive is if you need a movie set for the next MadMax or Armageddon movie. I lived in the Portland area for 21 years and while it was always weird, it was also a place you grew to love with great restaurants, events and vibe. I still live just a few hours away and when I travel there for business it’s a tire fire that makes you want weep. New York was able to come back from the rat invested and crime riddled 70s so perhaps there is hope.

not a good day to be in NFL coaching if you can’t coach a team effectively and don’t show results

ridiculous decision by Staley yesterday to play his starters in a meaningless game – ARGGH! smart kid but his decisions are just not logical sometimes.

He played Herbert hurt a lot earlier in the season, too. I just don’t get it.

That said, Lovie Smith was set up to fail in Houston and got fired for not failing enough. Dude deserves better. Hopefully he lands a DC position with a team who appreciates him.

Don’t the Doyers have up to 5 days to trade Bauer before they release him?

One piece I read says that they have only informed he of their decision, so that may be the case that they do have 5 days to trade him, but who wants to to pay the Dodgers for him as he will be a FA very soon if not already.

i don’t think anyone will bring him to camp. it would be a huge distraction

He will be a mid-season signing by a team that wants to win and has no other better options to do it

Agreed. There’s no worse way to handle bringing in Bauer than doing it before or during camp. Your players are kind of held hostage by the media in that scenario.

If/when Bauer is brought in, do it after the season has started and while the team is enjoying off day. Or possibly while they have a travel day.

I’d probably also have his first start be on the road.

I tend to disagree on the best timing for a team to bring Bauer in. If he gets signed and attends spring training, isn’t that the perfect time to get the media frenzy out of the way? Stuff like that typically calms down as the calendar moves on, so perhaps its best to have that happen when the games don’t yet matter. Sure, it’ll get brought back up at the beginning of the season, and mentioned during any prime time Angels game, but by then the other players will be used to it and have their media responses refined.

Bringing Bauer onto a team in the middle of the season seems like the best way to ensure it is as big of a distraction as possible.

Some of it may depend on the “News/Sports News temperature”……are we distracted with something else, as to not have enough energy to show sufficient outrage? Can someone sign this guy without a heavy spotlight? The right conditions, right team, might happen sooner than expected.

But I agree with your with “best timing for a team to bring Bauer in” opinion if you’re going to do it.

So what we need is to sign Bauer, then have an important Yankee player catch mono or have a bad hangnail so that the entire sports world has to hopes and prayers themselves to death over it.

Also, Tom Brady needs to start dating a hot 25 year old on March 20th.

Headline from a “Click Bait Media” source.

Trevor Bauer linked to team he admittedly hates with a passion

But that hasn’t stopped the speculation, headlined by the Houston Astros.

Padres to my surprised publically backed off of Trevor. Would have been great to add fuel to that rivalry. Thinking it will be a rebuilding team with no chance to win to give Trevor time to reshape public persona.
