The Dodgers are angering quite a few people by being the first to 90 wins. Not only that, but they did it before September, just like 2017.
Oh and Dave Roberts, the manager who is hated by many Dodgers fans, has the best winning percentage of any manager who has managed 1k games. Can the Angels have him if the Dodgers fans don’t want him?

Can’t stress enough how the clown show broadcasts the past 2 seasons have made a bad situation seem so much worse.
It’s one thing to strike out on your big free agents but how Carpino and Moreno bungled the post-Rojas voice of the team is beyond me. There are really bad baseball teams that are very easy to listen to in the background. Being bad happens. Musical chairs announcers does not.
That these guys who thought they were building Yankees West all these years couldn’t be brought to find a premium, permanent voice is one of the things I’ll remember most about the Moreno years.

After cruising around boards for a few other teams, and of course CtPG, I see a lot of stress and anger about low quality player acquisitions and call ups here at the end of August. I’m starting to suspect that it’s root cause is human stupidity, but it’s end results can be heart issues, stroke, limp dick, kidney and liver failure, domestic abuse and chapped asshole. Because I care and have a heart that’s tender like veal I have produced this informational tidbit.
Public Service Announcement:
Do you say “HURR GERR DEEE BURRR! BETTAH! NO GOOO!” when you see that your team has called up or signed some no name future high school baseball coach here in August? Are you aware that there are roster issues created for next season by bringing up that prospect you are begging for before Sept, not to mention consequences if said prospect is called up early from AA and gets his soul eaten by MLB action? Do you also realize that, post trade deadline, the only players getting moved off rosters are AAAA trash because that’s how the rules work? Are you mad? Does it make you sad? Does that make you mad? Well, before your heart explodes from having to rage pump your gravyblood through all that body you have, or your wife goes Gone Girl on you, why not actually learn how this game you say you love so much works and calm the hell down? Namaste.
You guys should see some of the Yankee fans and their spin chin tantrums over some of the scrappers their team’s brought in the last few days and the demands that the FO go out and somehow get “real talent”…. incredible.

Minasian slept through the Jesus Aguilar DFA by Miami and Baltimore scooped him up. At the very least, a real MLB proven right hand platoon partner for whatever Angels 1B who can’t hit lefties.
Exactly. I had actually made a note of that in my info pile for this off season’s IIW(GM name here). Aguilar would be cheap and effective, especially if we trade Ohtani.
Though, we don’t need him now, and we can get him for next season… or try to.
It would be good to bring him in and see how he looks and does the next five weeks.
If the Angels were in contention, I would have been pissed. But now, what is the point? He would rather prove his wisdom in signing F-F-Ford than win baseball games.

Barf. I can’t stand homers, and Patty is the ultimate homer announcer. He pimps every Angel HR like it just won the WS in a game 7 walkoff for the Angels.
I suppose the Honks love his “high energy and enthusiasm”, but just tell me score, and maybe some insight into what is happening around the team. I know they have to sell tickets, insert commercials, etc. – maybe they should offer us a feed WITHOUT pimps/announcers.
Having said that, having a year of MLB.tv shows one there ARE worse play by play announcers out there, which I would have not thought possible.
He even pimps pop fly balls that go just past shortstop as if they were equivalent to Bonds 2002 WS bombs.
I prefer a guy who focuses on our team, not anything but. So O’Neal works better for me than Vasergian. Both are unacceptable.
And yet…. you have accepted them.
I get it…. Matty V. is not a popular choice as a Play-by-Play guy for the Angels to most posters here at CTPG. With maybe the lone exception of Vinnie, every Baseball PxP or Color announcer has and will make mistakes. In the case of Matty V. I feel as though I’m in a little rowboat out past the surf break and am surrounded by a half dozen Great Whites and I’m on the menu.
So, we have an East Coast PxP guy who is most familiar with East Coast teams and whose fav is the Oakland A’s. So he is annoying because he talks about the opposing teams a lot. Is there something you want to hear that is of an impressive stat about the Angels you need to hear? Is our team so special in ’22 or last year in’21 that is so damn important, say like the W-L records that should be pointed out? Well then Ican see your point of disliking the guy from MLB Network. Patrick’s our man, right? We need him more than we need a break from him and his constant dribble about how great Gubi is, right?
When what is perceived as a great PXP announcer starts out with a team, usually they are not well taken too by that team’s fans, and as an example, the reviews for Rojas/Gubi for the first 5 years were pretty much in the bottom third of announcing team reviews. After that their reviews started moving up and they peaked around 5-7th place Rojas moved on. But to us they were the best around here and how dare one of them wanted out to pursue other endeavors.
Matty V. is no different in his approach to informing the fan than that of any other great announcer from the current crop to the past greats. He like Scully tells us about the opposing team’s players and their backgrounds and teaches us about the opposing teams past through stories or numbers or other trivia. But the history of the Angels is really very boring, one World Series appearance, One Hall of Famer who played in another city longer than he played locally, one Cy Young winner, and a long list of great players who swung through here and called us home for a short period. Winfield came through as did Carew, Jackson, Ryan, Sutton, and one who will go to the HoF in Albert. When we play the AL East teams there certainly is more to talk about with their histories than our own.
I am a fan of Matty V. but even I am just not very interested of late in this Angels team and no matter who is on the TV fawning over this or that about the Angels I am just going to be stringing out the season once again. But, this Winter while being disappointed in the actions or non-actions of the team I can look forward to possibility of a new boss man.
By all means though we need to be rid of Matty V. and his East Coast bias and lack of decorum and knowledge of our Angels get ourselves more of Patrick O’Neill or maybe bring back Darin Sutton.

While I may agree with most of what you say, my own opinion of Matty V is he is like having an announcer from the opposing team in the broadcast booth. The only time you see him is on the east coast or in Oakland, Only exception would be the Yanks coming here.
I personally would prefer a full time PXP with local ties.
Matty V is just a weird fit, doesn’t enflame the sense of “home team” that listening to or watching “our” broadcast should. Sure, he’s stupid and makes mistakes. He’s also annoying. Same as most PBP guys. I actually thought the same of Vin Scully. Never got the crazy love for the guy other than he’s very old, very white, and a nice guy. But at least the annoying loudmouth that calls other teams games is part of the teams over all fabric. Having Matty V call your games feels the way I imagine taking your cousin to a high school dance does…. fake, awkward and lame.
Matty V was born & razed in the Bay Area (Berkeley and Moraga) meanwhile Vin Scully was born in the Bronx NY and meanwhile Francis Dayle Hearn hailed from Illinois. You don’t need to be born and raised in the same area.
However Shane Bieber was born and rased in the Anaheim Stadium parking lot and our crack team of MLB’s best scouts thought he sucked!!

I’m officially at the point where, no matter what, it’s a double-digit countdown before I go back home to my wife and kids today, so pretty psyched for that.
Let’s be real, I’m sure no one was expecting another sweep, especially against the MFY, but hope to at least take the series today.
