Luis Rengifo is making a case to be the Angels starting second baseman next season. Tonight he staked the team to a 1-0 lead in support of his childhood friend Jose Suarez.
That lone run was all the scoring in the game as Suarez looked sharp and the bottom of the Angels lineup was putrid.
Through seven innings the Angels had 5 hits. Two be Fletcher, one by Ward, two by Rengifo. That was it. The other six guys were 0 for the game.
Fortunately the A’s were even worse, managing just two hits going into the seventh inning stretch. Suarez gave up a two out walk but no hits. He ended his night with his 8th K and a 1-0 lead.
That last K came after manager Phil Nevin went to the mound and asked Suarez if he had the stuff to finish the inning. Suarez showed some emotion on the mound and in the dugout, obviously appreciative of the faith placed in him and the fact he came through for his team.
Aaron Loup pitched a clean 8th to keep it 1-0. Ryan Tepera closed it out with a nice play from Squid.
Our pitching is very terrible.
Man, Oakland is hurting on and off the field. I don’t think there is any chance the Angels can fall to the bottom of the AL West.
Don’t forget, they beat us two out of three last week….
Just sayin.
Suarez needs a game face. Half the time he looks like he wants to cry
You’d cry too if you had to start for this team
8-8 now. The team has been playing .500 ball for over two weeks! Who’d we play? I should look it up.
We played mostly shit. So poop playing poop at .500. But the pitching has definitely looked way better
We are not tanking properly…again. :/
