In a season that has death spiraled, the smallest bit of fortune feels most grand.
Like winning 2 in a row. A feat that hasn’t happened in July for the Angels before today.
Janson Junk’s July 27th start just showed that the Angels starting pitching was in good hands. 5 innings, no runs and only 4 hits. He struck out 8 and walked only 1 as he clamed his first victory.
But the real reason for 2 in a row was the offense. Fresh off of a strong outing last night, they scored again today! The biggest contributors were Gosselin, Marsh, and Squid, the bottom of the lineup coming through.
Highlighted Recap
It was a pitching duel to start the game. A scoreless affair until the top of the 5th, when, after Kurt Suzuki reached, the Goose was loose, as Phil Gosselin tripled him in!
Marsh drove him in for the crucial 2nd run!
More almost came but the Royals still had great defensive players on their team.
It was bullpen time for both teams now, and the Angels again outdid the Royals, scoring again in the 7th thanks to Squid and a really bad throw.
Ohtani was tired of the bottom of the lineup getting all the hits, so he singled in the 4th run of the game!
D-Cell came in to secure the win in a non save situation. He had some help from his CF, who was still not Trout, as he is still injured. But he shut the door, as the Angels shutout the Royals for the second game in a row!
The Angels have won 2 in a row, and return home tomorrow. Shohei Ohtani has a chance to make it 3 in a row as there is finally good news for once.
