Goose has an OPS barely above 600 for the ENTIRE 2nd half and he’s still batting 3rd everyday. Until the Angels start making changes much quicker than they ever have they are going to be looking up at the competition in the standings.
I’m talking about lineup construction from the very beginning of the season. They literally played scrap heap with the bullpen by just offering guys 1M that they knew other teams hadn’t scooped up. They never get any depth pieces because Arte spends foolishly. He SHOULD have gone over payroll this year knowing Pujols was coming off and he only has so many years of Trout left. He didn’t. This is the result.
and when you KNOW someone is bad you just keep throwing people out there and see what sticks. Diaz has actually been pretty good. Certainly someone they could have tried instead of seeing Quintana up a 1.7 WHIP for 2/3 of the season.
Dude. Short of resurrecting murderers row there was no way to recover from the injuries to our offense. No Trout No Rendon No Upton (if he was effective). Can’t build for that unless you have super powers of some sort.
