Padres @ Angels 08/27/2021 Gamethread

We grabbed the above image last night, when no one knew who was starting for either team, and felt it was too funny not to share. The Padres have since announced that Joe Musgrove will start for them. Cooper Criswell is making his Major League debut for the Angels, who do not have a lineup 30 minutes before first pitch.

Marsh and Adell look good enough to just cut JUp. It will never happen, but he’s just not good.

Perry should DFA him, place him on waivers. Pay him off…anything. Goose is a better LF.

Diving into the numbers shows that he is extremely unlikely to sustain any more success.

Well…here comes Sudden Sam Selman.

Fletch is 0 for his last 28

He should be in the leadoff spot. He’s been crap in the #2 hole.

I wish he was faster…..

you still like him hitting 9?

True….
but, if he hits #2 behind Marsh, with all of Trout, Sho, Walsh, Rendon behind him? I think that might work, worth a look next year.

Are you an anti-Fletchite?

Them might be fighting words for me and Grandpa.

Don’t agree he’s 6 or 7 best. But, I trust your opinions……hitting 9th next year. Done.

Most, if not all of that 0 for 28 was from the #2 spot.

Not. .297 when batting first, and I don’t care about his OPS.

I’ll argue against myself: .333 when batting 9th.

if you don’t care about about OBP whats the sense of wasting my time trying to educate you?

Not OBP, OPS. I think on-base percentage is important for a lead-off batter.

so why would you promote a leadoff hitter with a substandard OBP unless you embrace mediocrity

Compared to whom? We are talking about the Angels, right?

well I think everyone should unless you are still living in the 70’s . But under your angels logic he should be batting 9th where he’s hitting .333 this year ( and a .376 OBP)

Fletch is the Tank Gunner. He’s doing his part perfectly.

Yeah, almost checked out. He probably glanced towards the pen and saw Selman.

He’s tired….it’s on him most nights and he knows it. Trout in the lineup will make a huge difference for him if he isn’t completely gassed already.

Pitching and Ooh yea and hitting are lacking with this Angels team, which is good as we will end up with a better draft choice, very sad and weak but what to do?

has a nice lefty cheese (95mph) blend…. Needs a little spice (Experience) better than most of the AAA clowns we have trotted out there. He looks like he has a game plan, can execute pitches.

oh well. Last 15 games, Gump .415/.456/.604. That’s 1.060 OPS if I’ve added correctly.
