Ohtani Homers, Angels Lose 10-2

Bundy was back on the mound this time vs a real offense. He pitched decently enough, allowing only 2 runs when on the mound. Unfortunately, he pitched only 4 innings, making the bullpen get most of the outs in the game.

Recap

Short Outing Bundy

Bundy sent down the Blue Jays 1-2-3 to begin the game. Unfortunately, so did the Blue Jays pitching. Scoreless after 1.

Another inning, another perfect one for Bundy. Angels get a baserunner on an error but that was it. Still scoreless after 2.

Third inning time and Bundy found the bats/ 2 Solo shots to put the Blue Jays up 2-0. Angels respond with an Adell single and a BIG FLY OHTANI-SAN! 2-2 After 3!

He’s Baaaaaaaack!

4th inning Bundy is good Bundy again as he sets them down in order. Angels say ditto and do the same. 2-2 After 4.

Things immediately went wrong for Bundy in the 5th, giving up a leadoff double. That was enough for Maddon and he was pulled. 4 innings, 2 runs, not bad, not that good either though.

Long Bullpen Game

Selman was up first and he got a lineout. Unfortunately the second batter hit the ball a lot softer and through the infield for a hit and a run came across. He then loaded the bases, but got 2 outs, even getting Vlad Jr to foul out. Maybe he can get out of this… no. Grand Slam Hernadez. 7-2 Jays

With Sam Grand-Slam-Selman putting the Angels in a huge hole, the offense had to come back. It did not in the 5th, despite Adell’s leadoff single, nada. 7-2 Jays after 5.

Slegers came in and did much better, keeping the Blue Jays at bay. Walsh had a leadoff single, Stassi got HBP and was taken out of the game, and the Angels failed to score. Still 7-2 after 6.

At least Slegers kept it at a 5 run deficit. Too bad the offense couldn’t score yet again. Still 7-2 Angels after 7.

Slegers gave up runs in the 8th due to misplays on the left side of the infield by Mayfield and Gosselin. 9-2 Blue Jays. Angels get nothing per usual, 9-2 Jays after 8.

Aaron Slegers pitched the 9th as well, not that he pitched it well, mind you, just that it was his 4th inning. Springer hit a home run while being booed. 10-2 Blue Jays.

Bottom 9, last chance for the Angels, but they gave up innings ago. Angels lose.

Upcoming

One more vs the Blue Jays tomorrow and then 3 vs Houston. Oh joy… Please drink responsibly.

I may be in the minority here, but I thought Bundy was doing OK… not great, but not horrible.

Left at 2-2. And then Selman happened…

Defense was really sloppy Weds night. Even Walsh looked pretty rusty. But that’s to be expected. So are errors from Gauze-lin and MayNOTfield

I don’t think booing Springer is working … AT ALL

What’s up with that lame “jacket ceremony” after the Blow Jays arrive back at the dugout after a homer?

It’s what the kidz these days do to show their homies they are zazzy xtreme fresh and fire. We encourage it because allowing the players to be ultra-lit and expressive will allow us to corner the youth market and grow the sport.

I’m waiting for baseball to realize that all they have to do is create an app that allows “the kidz” to quickly and easily mask their face onto any footage of a player doing something cool and “boom” target market interaction. The sport can stop dying now.

The Bay Area teams know how to fix broken toys or find two guys I never heard before this season Anthony De Sclafani and Kevin Gausman out of thin air! Then be able to develop a Brandon Woodruff ( a 11th rd draft pick and a Corbin Burnes who was a 4th rd pick just like that guy in Cleveland who’s from Laguna Hills HS and played at UC Santa Barbara ). Or we can lose 100 games and have the opportunity to draft a Jack Leiter or Stephen Strasburg plus maybe have to deal with Scott Boras as his agent!

In other shitty news. 66er Jack Kerouac Kochanowiczzzzzzzzzzzzzich got lit up (again) like a fire in a homeless encampment off the San Bernardino 215 Freeway, 6 runs in 5 innings, 75 pitches and 2 bombs…….its SB, shouldn’t use bombs, too literal, he gave up 2 HRs.

Well, I wouldn’t give up on him yet, but as soon as he hits 75 professional innings and his WHIP is still above 1.4 I say we just put him in a small boat with a bottle of water and some crackers and set him adrift cause he obviously isn’t ever going to get it together.

Or trade him to the TB Rays for a bag balls where he will quickly develop into their staff Ace

Did you just call Jack Kerouac a Cracker?

Almost went to watch the 66ers tonight, didn’t make it.
Friend of mine who knows more about baseball than me, saw several of his starts, said he’s F’ing huge and throwing much harder now, 95-97. He thinks that’s the problem. We can keep an eye on him, just 20 years old.

I suspect his real problem is he’s been drinking too much

All kidding aside, he is 20 and he hadn’t pitched competitively for two seasons since being drafted out of high school. Now…. go pitch in the MiLB! Of course he kind of sucks, I expected him to for the most part. My real hope is that they are getting all kinds of tape on him so he can learn from his ass kicking and start to actually develop cause right now he’s a big high school kid who has spent some time at really cool baseball camps. I still think when he’s 22 we’ll be excited about him.

Why would you associate Kochanowicz with a trailblazer like Kerouac?

The only trail Koch has blazed would be the one from the mound to the showers.

Jack Kerouac “On The Road” aimless vagabond traveler. Good writer
Jack Kochanowicz, not a good MLB pitcher.

4 base errors ? serpentine routes after flyballs? A 41% SO/PA ratio?

NY will uphold this one so you’ll be out of challenges until at least 2022

Marsh may not be able to hit right now but he can still run, catch & throw. Hell, he may be a pretty good singer and dancer too.

All the more reason to send him down, getting ugly for everyone involved.
Seems like a tough kid, nothing but a learning experience for him now.
Not his fault, he’s not ready and he takes his cuts when allowed to hit.
His future is bright and sunny, but today it’s a rainy, steamy hot shit storm.

Yeah, he just looks a little overmatched, maybe a little out of his head at this point. I’d actually send him to SLC, tell him to get himself reset for a couple weeks and that we’ll play him some more in September.

We know the penchant the Angels have for saying one thing about injuries, followed by dire news.

Here’s a CBS.com headline

Angels not planning on shutting down Mike Trout despite extended absence

So I guess that’s it.

Senator_John_Blutarsky

When Perry’s statement is run through the Halo Universal Bullshit Translator it reads: “Trout’s injury is far worse than we expected, and the recovery is as much mental as physical. We’re trying him out at first base so he can limit having to move. Kirk Gibson today has better legs than MNT.”

pretty much! Ha… here’s the actual report

“My policy with any player is we go day-to-day and communicate,” general manager Perry Minasian said (via Associated Press). “From our end, we will not rush him. We want him to feel good about how his calf feels and to play at his level when he does come back.”

Well is that better or worse than the mets GM’s diatribe regarding all of their injured players?

Angels could use Gibby. Brings a fire and intensity.

I’m just regretful Trout is missing some key years to really run up some stats and to elevate himself amongst the greatest. This is too bad. Don’t care too much about what Perry burps out regarding health. Track record speaks for itself but your take is as good as any I’ve read. I’m certainly not even thinking about IF he will make it back. We should all move on from 2021 MNT.

JackFrost

Clearly the Angles brass does not want the fans to give up on seeing Trout again here in 2021. While it may be true that they don’t want to rush him, there are still alot of home games to be played in August and September. Arte would very much like to sell tickets to those games. With a 4th place team Ohtani and Trout are the way to do that.

agreed totally. It’s a ticket shill scam. Trout ain’t coming back but they gotta put on that act to get people to continue to buy tickets.

Yep. Can’t think of a worse triumvirate (joke) to run out there on the mound.

The solution: don’t carry shit on your roster and then the manager won’t be compelled to use them at any point.
