Tonight is Pride Night at the Big A. You have to buy a special ticket package to get the hat.

The Red Sox signed Alex Claudio. They also moved Garrett Richards to the bullpen.
In the latest action on the Catcher Go Round, the Braves have activated Travis D’Arnaud and designated Kevan Smith for assignment.

MLB is really hyping the Field of Dreams Game that is set to be played later today. Carlos Rodon won’t be in the game because he just went on the ten day injured list with left shoulder fatigue
If Noah Syndergaard makes it back this season it will be as a reliever. His setback left him insufficient time to get stretched out as a starter.

Heaney’s given up 8 HR in his last 13 innings pitched. Is that bad?
the ball really flies in that field. Or out of it. What a corny gimmick. I can see the Skanks coming back to win this and Heaney getting a W.
He is not our problem any more.
not for the Angels.
I keep getting emails for JackFrost. Maybe my email is linked to his account or something?
you must have accidentally clicked on something so you’re getting notifications. I’ve had that happen with both Jack and Grandpa Baseball. You can unclick but now I forget how I did that. Oh wait! You see how there are these funny lines, a couple of arcs and a dot underneath ‘trusted member’ or ‘super member’ or whatever? If you click that for anyone you’ll follow them and get notified in your emails. Click it again and it will unfollow. I bet you accidentally hit that.
Hover over that, see if it says “Unfollow this user” or “Follow this user”.
Got it, thank you! No offense, jack.. lol
You “fat-fingered” your phone and clicked this icon (blue arrow points at it) …. Done that a gazillion times myself. 😂
I’m subscribed to quite a few thanks to these sausage links lol
This might be Heaney’s worst game of the year. I’ll check the game logs.
close to it. It ties the most he’s given up in a single game but at least this time he’s pitched more than 3 innings.
Brutal, but hilarious…. thank God he’s gone.
All those historic Yankees in the corn and it could only conjure Andrew Heaney
Hear the Ball flies in the Corn of Iowa
Andrew, gifted a lead, needing a shutdown inning, is looking similar to the Heandog we’ve known.
Hate to break to you, but Eloy Jimenez who’s on fire BTW just crushed a 3 run bomb off Andrew “No mustache” now Heaney. Here’s to Tony L though!
Get a Uber or Lyft driver dude!!
It’s up to 3 corn-shots now
he’s looked pretty bad so far in pinstripes even for a semi somewhat lookalike of Josh Hartnett.
If we traded Cobb to the Yanks this game would have been epic!
Heaney…one out…two out…….bomb….1-0 Chicago after 1.
Into the corn
I find myself rooting for the Skanks. So that’s interesting. Probably because Heaney is pitching. But possibly because I hate LaRussa.
Got his ass kicked by the Orioles in his last start.
It’s pretty cool…..almost limitless. Put a 8,000 seat stadium in lots of places.
Grand Canyon, Pebble Beach, Lake Tahoe, treat it like the outdoor hockey series.
now that’s an interesting idea. I’d like to see the Mariners play in Portland. We’ve got a team called the Portland Pickles that play in a field that’s part of a public park. They should do that. Ideally I’d like to see the Angels as part of that game.
Jhonathan Diaz got absolutely lit up for 8 ERs at AA after being really good for the last 2 months or so. So let’s hope it’s just a blip.
Excited to see the new arms in the system get their first trial in the pros
You n the other guys who keep giving us updates from all these MiLB games are doing a great job. What other group of fans is even close to this well informed on who we have in our system and what they are doing?
Cheers! But i’m just relaying a lot of the great info/work these guys have been doing on Angels twitter. This guy is definitely worth a follow as well as Taylor B Ward(the other Taylor Ward) and @AngelsMiLB
Yeah, I know it’s just reposting, but it’s still cool. I work with a whole bunch of fans of other teams and they’ll eventually ask a hard hitter like “Have you heard of this kid MacKinzie Gore?” but your average CtPG guy knows a lot more cause yall post these.
I like to follow SLC and Rocket City because maybe there’s help down there. Criswell, Stephanic, McKinnon, Davis…
Yes, definitely appreciated.
TB Ward is a great follow. I’ve interviewed him before and will again. Probably next month after the young guns have gotten some playing time.
6’6” lefty, 2nd round pick Ky Bush assigned to A+ Tri-City Dust Devils, tonight’s starter.
Round 5 pick RHP Brett Kerry assigned to Inland Empire 66ers, tonight’s starter.
Excited to get a look at some of these young arms.
I’d love to see an updated Angels prospects list that includes all of the new college arms the club picked up in this summer’s draft.
Plus all the guys we signed the weren’t drafted
My comment had no ill will towards anyone and I never have in 15 years of being in this community. If politics aren’t allowed then the rules should apply for both sides.
You can talk about Pride night without making it political. We always try to be fair and if something posted could be inflammatory and political, we do our best to notice that and remove if needed.
Arte gets bashed for leaning a certain way all the time here. It’s been that way since the beginning and I don’t care. I asked a non inflammatory question about obama and it got removed. Didn’t make sense to me. Politicians can go screw themselves.
We’re working on reducing arguments in general. I appreciate the way you phrased your question but the potential for the discussion to devolve was just way too high.
In general, we’re going to be deleting more comments for a while. Across the spectrum. Not trying to pick sides, definitely not personal.
The rule is only discuss politics when it directly relates to baseball/the Angels. Mia’s comment pushed that boundary a bit, any subthread that branched off was just trouble waiting to happen. Even if said subthread was started with an honest question.
I hope Mia is allowed to come back from cyber jail. i miss her already.
Remember when we signed Lincecum? That was my 1st thought when I read the Cubs released Arrietta.
Please remove that thought from your head immediately. No point in putting that out in the universe for ahem the front office to pick up on.
They don’t read this site👀
Joe has a history with him
Arrietta > Selman > Sludgy = LOSS
insert Cishek into the chain upon his return…..
More of that CUBS magic
Whew. Good thing we haven’t signed any of Joe’s ex-players……..
but he went 1 for 5 with 4 strike outs last night in his third game back from a 2 month IL stay. I love his plate discipline, I’m encouraged he could be a great future MLB all star. But, like Marsh, he’s lost a lot of season of development this year
Add in last year too.
Nice. Had a couple of exchanges with KP and I’m trying to get an interview set up through his agent. Agent is crazy busy, though.
Your interviews are a highlight of the site. If we have out hearts like on facebook I’d do that. I love hearing these guys talk about their journey.
Thanks. I appreciate that. Being able to do them via Zoom is a life saver. Transcribing the chats and trying to capture the tone of the responses took a lot of time.
I hope him and adams work out well for the Angels.
Now this is a real cornfield…I wish Sludgy, Selman and the As’s, Asstro’s, Mariners and Jerry, Doyers and all their fans, all of them into the cornfield……who did I miss?
Other than Manfred, I’m not sure about anyone else. But the Heandog’s pitches will be disappearing into the corn tonight.
Chowds and their fans.
Blue Jays…..into the cornfield! Too good.
Well duh, Joe Buck of course !
Tony DUI LaRussa
Red Sox and Yankees.
That one was a classic : “I’m gonna wish you away to the cornfields.”
Interestingly, the Yankees and White Sox have must have already been “wished away” because they are playing in the mythic cornfields of Iowa in the “Field of Dreams” game which starts in a few minutes.
Free Live Yankees at White Sox game with MLB Gameday
Gotta include their fans too.
I do along with Dodger, Raider and Cowboys fans here in America and English hooligans and Russians in Europe for the World Cup.
The English football hooligans are right up there with Dodger fans for the worst in the world. The most unruly, the most violent and the most animal-like. On the flip side though, a good portion of English football fans (certainly the larger majority, as the hooligans are comparatively small group) are the most passionate and dedicated sports fans in the world. Perhaps some argument would come from South America though.
What does a perfect slide into Home Plate look like? Trea Turner can and will show you above. Can’t teach that.
I’d rather slide & glide like Turner than move like Jagger
I feel good
Did you know that you would?
until he can do this, not impressed.
The good news for me is that my personal in person scoreless innings streak came to an end thanks to Mr. Ohtani. I went 27 straight without seeing a single run. Overall, last night was a win.
the pride hat is so fucking ugly
Pride night rings pretty hollow when you see the people Arte likes to spend his time with and money on. He doesn’t support us, but he’ll slap a rainbow on a hat and take your money.
Is Chick Fil A catering?
Just a lil good ol’ fashioned panderin’
Nothing is ever good enough. TrAdition on here.
I just really fucking hate corporate pride.
Come on, Mia. Corporations would never pretend to be something just to attract customers.
Yes, but it sounds like he was forced into doing this, your battle was win, now celebrate in his house.
OC is a crap place for this too. More reason to celebrate.
Mia would be more mad if Arte was still holding out. Mission accomplished.
I don’t think it is really sponsored by the Angels. It’s just a community event that the Angels allow for something in return. Respect? Tax Breaks? OC requires it?
It’s an organization night out at the ballpark with supporters invited. They just signed up for something that the Halos could not refuse to okay. The Pride people will be allowed to wear the caps, and they will have their inning.
It is a chance for exposure that this group would never have had if they did it on their own. Angels Stadium is just the venue. Just having something like this in the OC is something. Hi Mouse. I support this. Why shouldn’t I?
Pretty much every Major League Team has their own pride night. For all we know it maybe mandated by the league. When my daughter and I saw Ohtani’s start in Arizona it was also pride night at chase field. This should be an annual event for all 30 teams
Yep. I’m thinking this.
But how do get support and recognition without awareness? This is an opportunity to get people informed and to feel comfortable with the world around them.
When given a chance for improvement, take it.
The one time I went to AT&T (now Oracle) Park, it happened to be LGBTQ night.
Sheer coincidence — had a free night on a business trip.
Not mandated. Angels and Yankees were the last ones to do it. Hiring Billy Bean as Ambassador for Inclusion for MLB certainly helped drive some of this.
Damn, again we refuse to do nice things
The Angels definitely are sponsoring this. Outside organizations worked with them and convinced them to start doing these. I know some of the people that were involved in that process. I don’t think they get anything in return other than ticket sales? I think it’s great it’s happening but as Mia said, it rings pretty hollow given the owner of the team.
Isn’t it possible to be a rich man who supports certain partisan causes (is that diplomatic enough?) to also be fine with people being themselves?
Rare, but yes it IS possible.
Always, but not in this situation.
I was thinking, correct me if I’m wrong again, that this was like the ethnic nights and college nights they held at theBIG A a few seasons ago. Where the organizations were just invited to fill an evening on the schedule.
Yeah, Arte is the benefiting from the lack of cares here, and I too agree with Mia here too, but, you have to take what they give you sometimes. This free advertising from, it has to be killing him inside, Arturo Moreno is something that normally would not be available. Arte did take a long time to concede to this. Take advantage while you can to educate the masses of important issues.
Like many corporations, Arte worships money above all else, so i can see how it wasn’t too hard of a sell to have him host these types of events despite his own regressive inclinations.
Welp, there goes Thursday’s Crash Thread
You might want to read this – it is a bit more nuanced than for/against, and his position definitely evolved – to the point that in 2012 he was the first president to support same-sex marriage.
And what politician hasn’t changed their position on this issue?
I know many people in all walks of life who have changed their position on this.
Let’s please not let this devolve and just appreciate that the vast majority of us support our LGBT community.
Politicians will only support something when it is safe for them to do so.
