Angels @ Dodgers 08/07/2021 Gamethread

For Saturday night’s game, Justin Upton was moved to the leadoff spot amidst his struggles. It’s probably not that related, but Upton does have a .993 OPS this season when leading off.

Of course, the dodgers shouldn’t be so proud. They should be lighting us up. Not coming from behind.

This wasn’t a fun loss. Felt like that lead was always gonna be taken away. Then it was. Late. Boo.

Outside pitch, tried to pull it. Easy pop out.

Kind of wonder if Maddon, with all the heat he’s taken this year, some justified, doesn’t deserve some props for getting THIS group of guys above .500.

Just the handling of Ohtani is praise worthy

Heat from CTPG or media? I think the media has been very fair and going out of their way to not be cirtical.

Of course he does.

The fact that he has won 5 of the last 8 with this group; no Trout, no Walsh, no Rendon, and for the last two nights no Ohtani, is praiseworthy.

He’s done a pretty remarkable job considering the table scraps he was given for a bullpen (excepting Raisel of course). I also don’t agree with your comment about “all the heat he’s taken” unless you are talking about this site specifically.

Again, another K on a pitch not even close.

Who gave Upton that 5 year deal? How did Noreno approve sign off on that?

At least Upton was at some point a major league caliber player. Way worse that they gave Maitain a big bonus. I saw him in rookie ball that year and he looked like a pudgy guy with no more athletic ability than you’d see in a coed softball game. Knew right then he’d never amount to anything.

That 5 year deal was just terrible tho. They need to go the Pujols route with Upton. Releasing Pujols resulted in a monster Ohtani season and an All Star in Walsh

and the sad thing is 99.9% chance they won’t. He’s friends with Trout and they’ll release him in July after he’s hit 210 with 12 homers.

Didn’t we used to have a catcher named Graterol? Is he related to their pitcher?

Let’s not forget that we have the Worsiest defensive catcher in all baseball calling games and taking strikes away from our pitchers

Suzuki should be out of baseball right now

Question: would you rather have Jeff Mathis or Kurt Suzuki?

Yeah, I still don’t get that one. Stassi is by far the better catcher. Makes no sense running Suzuki out there.

I don’t think Stassi is in a situation where he can play everyday. He’s had a lot of health issues right?

Joe Madison’s goofy ass has cost this team plenty of games this season. His bullpen management if horrendous. Joe smoking too much indica

I knew it was over once Gosselin bobbled that ball. Open up the flood gates.

The other team is throwing some right down the middle too…difference is we have AAA players including Upton missing it or fouling it off…while we’re facing a team full of All stars…just our reality right now..🤷🏽‍♂️

Upton looks to still be hurting a bit. But he’s a selfish player that will never be on a winner. Can’t be bothered to learn how to play defense even though he shows up at a mlb ballpark everyday.

Who could’ve possibly predicted this when Soggy Joe decided to trot out Gas Can Guerra?

He of the 4.59 ERA

Facing the consequences of the offseason. Let Pujols be the starting 1B even after like 5 years of sucking instead of getting some depth to go with Walsh. Now we are playing f’ing Phill Gosselin. Let all the relievers sign so we could pick up the losers of musical chairs and we wind up with Javy Guerra.

It’s 99% on Arte.
