Angels come back, win in Houston

The Angels kicked off a 6 game road trip by visiting the Houston Asterisks of Trashcanville.

Things started rough as Junior Guerra gave up a run in the first and another in the second. Jose Suarez came in as the bulk pitcher and gave up yet another run. Down 3-0 after 2 innings, things weren’t looking great.

But the pitching did the “bend but don’t break” thing and stranded lots of Astros runners and Jared Walsh was a one man offense driving in a run on a double.

Fast forward to the sixth inning and this happened:

As great as that was, Drew Butera safety squeezed in Taylor Ward from third to take the lead. It was a thing of beauty.

Tony Watson came into a key situation and retired Yordan Alvarez with two runners on to preserve the lead in the bottom of the sixth then pitched a clean seventh inning.

Walsh not only had a huge night at the plate, he flashed some great leather as well.

Michael Mayers pitched a clean 8th and Raisel Iglesias came in for the save. A huge comeback win against the AL West villains to start off the road trip.

Walsh went 4 for 4 with a walk. He was a one man wrecking crew. If we did Panther, he’d be in spots 1 through 3.

Need to trade him at the Trading Deadline and hope he’s not leading the American League in losses by then. I said this last year while the rest of this herd believed otherwise by his false 2020 abbreviated season numbers. He’s just not a winner and a clearcut picture of why a lot of baseball analytic numbers are total BS. Plus Perry M needs to purge this organization of Billy Eppl*r deadweight if he wants to win. So let’s see……2020 Hansel Robles, Ty Buttrey, and now Dylan Bundy 😫

Don’t know how you determined that he is “not a winner.” This season the offense has let him down big-time and his time in Baltimore meant he was pitching for one of the three worst franchises in MLB (recent history; 10-15 years).

Look, we need arms, this season and going forward. If we don’t sign Bundy who will we replace him with? Even though he is clearly not an ace or # 2 , he can be a # 3 guy.

It will depend what he’s asking for. If he wants too much you then shake his hand, say “thanks but no thanks” and move on to other business. But to dismiss him as an option at this point would be irresponsible.

There are just not that many decent arms out there. Try to sign him for a reasonable amount.

/\ This…….

Talk to the offense and politely ask if they possibly could “shift” some run support from Canning’s over to Bundy? Time travel if needed, shape shift, kill a chicken for Bundy, throw Pompey’s bat and glove into the Volcano Vesuvius, do something.

He’d be viewed differently if he had some support and take away that last start.

I would approve tax dollars going into researching why some pitchers get zero run support and other receive lots. One less study on how eye color effects fat people from hitting in Houston.

Are we really still getting “he’s not a winner!” arguments in the year 2021? Yikes.

I apologize that he doesn’t have the 1927 Yankees playing behind him. A former #4 overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft who will never live up to his expectations. Between him and Jose Quintana that will be a big river of tears on Gene Autry Way.

So why don’t we do POTG any more? Copyright issues?

We’ve had older catcher before and they are gone by trade deadline. Don’t get to used to Suzuki being around to much longer.

Walsh is a beast, pitching maybe improving, get Redon, Rodriguez, Stassi and the Cobbler healthy, Rojas gaining confidence………..now if only the Fat Kid would get off his ass and help out a little, we might have a team.

We’ve all been very critical of Soggy Joe’s bullpen management ( rightfully so) but I think we have to give him his props. He pulled the strings timely and effectively tonight.

There’s just one thing that doesn’t like right to me though: Suarez W (1-0) 2.25 ERA

With 4 innings of work. I think we need openers for all our starter so they can get the opportunity to get wins.

Mentioned below: Drew Butera, an unsung hero. I know we won’t dump Suzuki when Stassi comes back, but hopefully we don’t lose him [Butera] when we DFA him [Butera].

I still think Gosselin was safe on that play.. Cheap Arte, Cheap Ballys & Cheap Manfred can’t pay for enough camera angles even though they’re about $75 at best buy

I did as well. Credit to Gosselin for not acting like a tool and grabbing his ear flaps wildly to signify that the play should be reviewed. I know it was but I like when a team just challenges w/o showing up the umps.

Arte has about 10 brand new cameras sitting in storage that MLB won’t let him install/use because of the Astros cheating scandal. All cameras and camera angles in every ballpark are determined by Manfred and MLB.

I noticed they don’t show the catchers signals as much as in the past and they keep the camera shot on the pitcher until the pitch is determined but what does this have to do with not having camera angles at every base, every foul line and every fence/wall yellow line top.

Even if some of these angles (not Angels that is a separate subject) might not be game action worthy you still can bust them out during replay challenges so there are NO more controversies.

MLB is doing a huge disservice to its fans by not providing the fans, both in the stands and at home, the best technology possible.

Manfred rules. Arte bought a load of brand new cameras, took delivery, scheduled to have them installed, had some installed, and MLB came down with their new rules and told The Angels which cameras and angles had to go. So The angels got to uninstall cameras before they were even used, and as of a couple years ago they were in storage. Maybe by now he has sold them on Facebook Marketplace. Manfred screwed The Angels and other teams because of The Astros cheating.
