A rare night Spring Training game for the Angels!
The Angels head to Goodyear to face off against the Reds at 5:05 PT. Andrew Heaney will get the start on the mound and the club will bring a few of their regulars (Fletcher, Iglesias, Walsh). Perhaps just as exciting for Angels fans, Reid Detmers and Chris Rodriguez, the club’s top two pitching prospects, will be pitching according to Jeff Fletcher.
This is noteworthy since Detmers, the club’s first-round pick last year, hasn’t thrown an official professional inning with the Angels. Rodriguez, meanwhile, hasn’t thrown a professional inning since April of 2019 due to injuries. For what it’s worth, both of them pitched at the alternate site in 2020. This will be the first televised look for either of these prospects in an Angels uniform.
Some definitely good things from this game.
Detmees, Rodriguez and Iglesias. If they can contribute at that level…..well that would be good!!
