It has been a no good very bad week for Jo Adell. Not only has he only gotten one hit, but he had tightness in his leg, got hit on his hand for a strike, and had a ball go off his glove and over the wall for a home run.
Not that he was the only one struggling. Andrew Heaney was doing fine until the 4th inning when it unraveled and the 3rd out eluded him. Sorry, I praised him earlier, it is all my fault.
At least Tommy La Stella hit a home run. He did well today. As did Ohtani, with 2 hits and a walk! Maybe he has fixed his swing. And 7 Angels had walks! Good eyes! But also 13 strikeouts, 4 by Jo Adell. Not good.
But scoring so few runs vs one of the worst teams and getting swept is not how to make the playoffs. Even with 16 teams making it this season, the Angels are falling far behind. In fact the team is closer to the number 1 pick than 8th place in the AL.
Up next is Oakland at home, the only good team in the AL West this year. Let the Tanking continue!
Just a reminder that in this season, a 3 game sweep is the equivalent of an 8 game losing streak…
We are not OK.
insert “they’re still shitty” image here.
Ask and ye shall receive
I’m sure they’ll talk to Jo, settle him down. A very tough day that he’ll laugh about, eventually.
Truth is, we can’t even tank. We don’t know how and/or management simply refuses. Besides, we are not even very good at capitalizing on our draft positions it seems. We’ve got to push and at least try to slide into the postseason this year. Then bank on an improbable but wild ride. Stranger things have definitely happened! Rendon starts to pick it up in a week or so, Adell eventually finds some confidence, and Ohtani ganabre’s and mentally outsmarts his current woes. We can do this!
Great disasters of the last 125 years.
And there it is.
Instead of watching the game I threw on a Harold Lloyd movie, took a nap and ordered a belt on line.
Did you hear me Artie? Instead of watching your godawful team I watched a movie where everyone in it is dead, slept in the middle of the day and went to Kohl’s website.
I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a damn thing.
oh, a belt for your pants. I thought you meant liquor.
With the sports teams I root for I’m beyond alcohol. Sweet sweet heroin helps a little
Is it safe to say the Angels have wasted the greatest talent of a generation?
Yes. Poor David Fletcher.
Jessica, you spelled Max Stassi incorrectly.
Attention class, open your books to page one in Math 101. Spring Training record 1-5-2 and regular season record 5-10 equals what?……………………………………………………………………………………………So far second place in top draft choice.
Second acceptable answer is 6-15-2. Now raise your hand if that was what you expected for these highly paid Major League Baseball players……………OK moving on to Uncle Joe’s excuse run down…………………….Where’s Sosh when we need him.
The Angels are all out of whack mentally, and now’s the time for Maddon to bring 15 live alligators into the clubhouse, or a unicycle-riding clown juggling two mostly-naked French girls from Cirque de Soleil, but…C-19.
Guess ya gotta tip your mask, burn the pages.
Tip the mask, lol. Love it!
Breaking News
Angel’s skipper Joe Maddon seen scaling the Capitol Records Building to fire up and energize his base ( the team )
Tankathon lists our remaining strength of schedule as the sixth-toughest in the league, with Seattle and Arizona as the “easiest” opponents. Before today’s stunner it was Seattle and Texas.
LOL.
So you’re saying there’s still a chance?
I know the instinct is to not play Adell now but you’ve got to keep him in there. I searched through his MiLB track record and at every level, he’s had major contact issues before turning it on about 10-15 games in. The bigger issue is Adell didn’t get his repeat at Triple-A that he really needed. I think the learning curve for him will be sharp this year but I think getting Adell quality MLB time is vital for his development.
Unless, you know, we want to trot Upton out there but that doesn’t seem like a popular move either.
Absolutely play Upton. Dude gets paid bank and I want that #1 pick next year.
Why not both? 🤷🏻♂️

Harold finds your post offensive.
How about Maude?
I’m worried Adell is playing through his hamstring injury. He looks like he’s struggling to catch up to fastballs so they’re just eating him alive with them. Even though he was nubbing grounders before his injury, it didn’t look like he was struggling with catching up to fastballs
Keep him in there. He may struggle but he’s not going to learn in fake training camp.
Play him. There’s no downside, other than him becoming a YouTube celebrity and retiring from baseball.
Play him every.single.day.
He aint gonna get better going against minor leaguers on a practice field. Trial by fire in the fake season will benefit us way more in 2021.
By the time the Halo’s management builds up a team around Trout, he will be at the present-day Albert Pujols stage of his career.
Love the optimism that we will eventually build up a team around him!
They don’t call me Downing-anna for nothing! 😀
Apparently the Elias Sports Bureau has never seen a 4-base error. Coupled with 4 Ks, this HAS to be one of the worst games one position player has ever had in a MLB game.
Guess what I’m tryna say: CONGRATS, Jo Adell!
How was this scored? HR?
This team is on a road to nowhere. Draft pitching and keep drafting pitching.
There’s a chance our series with Oakland may be postponed, considering what happened with them getting quite touchy with the Astros today.
Why did we want baseball to come back so bad?
Don’t rain on the parade, we need some good draft choices. Though we need someone to know what those choices are.
I can’t root for losing. I understand the concept, but I just can’t do it. I’m too competitive.
I’m with you. One can only hope that the team pulls it together somehow. It’s understandable that they would be disheartened, what with Eric Kay’s indictment coming down just as they returned to the scene of the tragedy.
We missed out on getting KC Chief’s QB Patrick Mahomes as a investor ( the new highest paid team athlete surpassing our own #27 )……dammit he invested in the Royals.
Perhaps he can pitch? He can be our Bo.
Losses are more valuable than wins at this point. I was down for this year to be fun but I’m actually into the idea of the sprint giving us a draft pick slot we ordinarily would play ourselves out of over 162.
Perfect year for the team to suck……2020 the year of Covid 19
No pressers to explain why we suck……for Arte and Billy. This team was put together as a scared and frightened reaction to what the other teams in the division were doing ( A’s, Astros, and Rangers ) no game-plan whatsoever. This team has to make a change and bring in a real baseball guy here who knows what he’s doing and the hell with analytics!! Can’t tell a self made billionaire what to do, but why not do what the Dodgers did and invite some more rich investors into the fold and raise a extra $2B for the new stadium and a more competent baseball operations community and quit being a small market cut rate joke like the 2001 Pittsburgh Pirates.
Since Arte has been owner, the Angels have never hired a experienced GM……Tony Reagins, Jerry DiPoto, and now Billy Eppler.
2021 Strange, so l agree that it might as be this season that we suck if that equates to winning next season. I certainly see your point in the value of our choices of GM. But maybe we need some positive infusion of other points of view and infusion of cash at ownership level as you point out. So all l can add is we are only 2 games back of the Pirates and we have a chance for first place.
Glad we all see that Jerry DiPooPoo and Billy Ineppler are both different shades of crap. When you asked us who was better between Eppler and DiPoto, I just thought “turd” and “shit.” Same thing for the most part.
So hopefully we find a baseball focused management team that can put together a winning ballclub on the field. This operation is presently a laughingstock.
Damm where have you been? Actually glad you weighed in….LOL!!! 🙂
I can’t help but think that the Kay news affected the team’s morale for this series.
Couldn’t help but bring back awful memories and they all knew Kay.
What news was that?
Is that sarcasm? Eric Kay indictment…..
Sorry, but the only person worried about that is Arte’s accountant.
I don’t know. Their teammate died in Texas and they return to Texas on the day that Kay is indicted bringing up those tough memories. I can’t help but think it had an impact.
Ah, forgot about that. For some reason I was thinking Kenyon Middleton.
Affected the morale in a good way in that only Kay was indicted…..
Is there any concrete reason to expect that this is the end of the indictments?
Just saw Adell’s fielding mistake, tough break. Someone needs to show him the clip of Canseco and his head to homerun play.
At least some A’s players will likely be suspended for the series vs the Angels now.
for what … being too good?
For being heroes
