Angels News
The Angels are getting mentally prepared for a season in which the traveling to away games is going to be a challenge. Perhaps David Fletcher will man third base on opening day. Andrew Heaney will be pitching against Frankie Montas. Heaney says his back stiffness will not prevent him from pitching on opening day. Julio Teheran confirms that he tested positive for coronavirus. Heβs now in Summer Camp and he says he is only about a week behind in getting ready for the start of the season. Matt Andriese added a cutter and a two seamer to his repertoire while waiting for baseball to resume.
Other Baseball News
Long time MLB umpire Rick Reed died at 70. Dr. Anthony Fauci is going to throw out the first pitch on opening day for the Nationals. Cheer, boo, or clap virtually. (What no banging trash can?)
Rockies at Rangers is on MLB Network if you would like a look at the new stadium. It’s nice, but I don’t like the camera angle.
I’ve been cleaning up my email boxes. Found an angels game recap from two years ago, game lost by Deck McGuire. (indians, 4-3). I looked him up on Baseball-Reference.com. With Tampa Bay now, had a WHIP of two and an ERA of 15 in summer camp action. Looks like the end of the road for Deck.
this could also have gone in the Eppler discussion
That was so great to watch actual MLB baseball last night. Even a boring pitchers’ duel was fine with me. I was surprised how much I liked having the canned crowd noise. I tend to “watch” and multitask around the house, making dinner and what not. So having the rise and fall of the crowd noise in the background is always important to me. Let’s me know if I should run over and watch what’s happening.
I’ve found that I prefer no crowd noise over crowd noise for soccer, but it remains to be seen if the same is true for baseball. This sport just has that nice hum in the background.
No crowd shots are great. No noise? Never paid much attention to it anyway, also, Anaheim is a pretty quiet venue for sports.
For what it’s worth, Matt Martell has the Halos beating the Doyers in the WS.

TIL I love Matt Martell.
Pena tonight. Oo-ee! Baseball!
You can’t start Pena tonight, he plays for Detroit now.
Another game tonight? So soon…what did we do to deserve this?
Also, shout out to Joe Maddon for his wonderful comments on Keynan Middleton taking a knee last night. Joe just gets people. Key is easily one of my favorite guys on the team, and a great follow on Twitter and IG.
The Dodgers brutalized the Diamondbacks last night. Let’s hope the Angels bring their A game.
Pretty solid quote by Eppler this morning, too. And, yes, Key posts some funny stuff and lately some insightful stuff on his social media.
Just saw Eppler’s. Nice to see the team getting the messaging right.
What did he say?

In light of my fantasy baseball draft, who wants to give me tips? I’m a little rusty and it’s been a while.
I’m thinking that drafting Trout would be a good start. π
I got tips!! Pick all the Angels.
Just like Ohtani, this is a trap. And I won’t fall for it!!!
You could take Trout, or you could blow your league away and take Our Lord and Savior David Fletcher.
JDL already has Trout and won’t trade him to me π‘
I knew I liked her.
It’s not fair π
So great to have baseball back!
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
