In team wide video conference calls, the Angels have been discussing the movement toward social justice affecting society today and Joe Maddon recommends that the players understand what is going on and be part of the solution. The Angels are actively preparing for the new rule placing a man on second base to start the tenth inning.  Strikeouts will be a big part of their strategy.  Tommy La Stella enjoys the flexibility of the intrasquad games and is looking forward to an everyday role in 2020.  Patrick Sandoval has tested positive for COVID-19.  He’s had his two negative tests and is now at Summer Camp, but he won’t have time enough to stretch out as a starter.

Luckily, baseball is played outside.  It might be quite a while before we are free of these recurring shutdowns.  MLB and the MLBPA have finally reached a deal about vesting options and roster bonuses. Masahiro Tanaka is recovering well after getting hit in the head by a line drive last week.  There are 13 players who have opted out of the season counting David Price.  In the case of Jordan Hicks, he is a type 1 diabetic and as such is eligible to be paid and accrue service time.  I was wondering if people would dare to do major bat flips in intrasquad games.  Plunking your teammate is probably frowned upon, but I wonder if this engenders any ill will.  Trevor Bauer says not only are players going to spit, but the pitchers are going to ignore the rule against finger licking.
