Vacillating News About the Labor Negotiations
In response to the latest player proposal, an ownership source says, “We’re nowhere.” A 50 game season is not exactly nowhere. It is nowhere near enough baseball, though. Taylor Blake Ward tweets that Rob Manfred says there will 100% be baseball in 2020. The team owners are about to float yet another offer, but if there is no agreement by next week Rob Manfred will implement the 50 game season he can schedule under the March agreement. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Cardinals claims that baseball “isn’t very profitable.” Maybe that’s why Arte is saving his pennies for all that real estate developing he wants to do.
Other Baseball News
The Red Sox say that Torii Hunter’s statement about racist fans at Fenway Park is real and that their fans are even known to be racist to their black game day employees. They say that a small subset of fans is not who they are and that there are well known consequences for such conduct. The Red Sox acknowledge they have work to do. They claim to be figuring out “how we can do better.” I guess we will just have to wait and see how that goes.

Guys, when you hit 40 tell your doctor you want a PSA test when you get your yearly physical. My dad got prostate cancer about 30 years ago (just turned 95!) , so I get the test every time my doctor orders blood work, like once or twice a year. Isn’t foolproof, but it helps give early warnings.
And for their 2nd round pick the Angels select Anthony Tendon.

Exactly. They only say something now when it is fashionable to do so. What about back when Torii was being called the n-word and stadium staff shrugged their shoulders.?
True. Them doing something now does not absolve them of shirking past responsibility.
