Angels players are now participating in the limited workouts. Albert Pujols, Tommy LaStella, David Fletcher, Griffin Canning, and Shohei Ohtani are working out at Angels Stadium in Anaheim.
The MLBPA counteroffers a 114 game season with the ability for “high risk” players to opt out of playing and still get paid. The high risk designation can also include players with family members who have pre-existing conditions placing them at risk of severe COVID-19 illness. The owners are expected to reject this counteroffer. Sixteen teams have pledged to pay minor league stipends through August. The Angels are not among them. Lenny Dykstra’s reputation was ruled by a judge to be so bad that it is impossible to libel him. The so-called proclamation that professional athletes are essential workers was actually just an exemption from executive rule making that barred immigration because of COVID-19. Foreign professional athletes will still be able to get visas.
