LA Angels Weekend News Crash: May the Baseball be with you

It is Friday, Angels fans. Let’s see what we have for links.

Bad News

Well that is not good… no Little League World Series this year. Sad, but not surprised.

Looks like the Umpires are not happy. $Conflict between them and MLB over how the 2020 will be done. Bring on the roboumps!

Players Union reject the 2020 MLB Draft proposal. The Angels’ number 10 overall pick may be in trouble.

Good News

Want free stuff? Readers Digest has free Baseball stuff til July 15th.

Someone else giving Ohtani praise! it is CC Sabathia, so that is pretty good.

Another MLB start date proposal. Heyman the Bitmoji is saying early July for MLB. With taxi squad and expanded rosters. Better start in Canada then on July 1st

More spit-balling by Nightengale. Double Elimination MLB world series tournament for postseason. That would be unique. Also insane.

Atlantic League still insists they will play this season. As they typically do whatever and experiment like crazy, this is not out of character.

KBO Starts on Cinco De Mayo, so Fangraphs is going to help with getting to know them.

(OC Register)Speaking of KBO, Hank Conger is a coach there now too.

$Fabian Ardaya has asked an important question, who has more GRIT? Eckstein or Fletcher? This is important. Also you can still get the Athletic for 90 days for free.

Anything I missed? Post for upvotes. May Baseball be with you. Always.

I think we are getting closer everyday to MLB starting in some way. Today in Huntington Beach Cops and lifeguards just gave up against massive crowds in policing beaches. People want and need to go back to work and l think a lot will be changed to stay at home employee’s. Less folks are coming down with Covid-19 and that is a good sign. LET THE GAMES BEGIN SOON.

Fewer people are coming down with COVID-19 likely because of the social distancing and regulations. I do hope they don’t just ‘open things up’ and I would expect that there are a few cases that will directly be tied to a bunch of people interacting on the beach in violation of the order (like we just saw in Georgia). We can’t run public health policy based on people’s feelings.

I do want the games to start soon, but only if it is safe and fans/players/umps/staff are protected.

I agree with you all the way and am hoping that soon this virus packs it’s bags and moves on. After it disappears we will be able to play ball. LET THE GAMES BEGIN SOON. (meaning virus ends soon)

I’m also hoping they can get baseball started some way, but there’s no way “the virus packs it’s bags and moves on.” That’s just not reality or biology. Until there are either very good drugs, lots of quick easy access tests or a widespread use of a good vaccine. None of those scenarios are coming soon. Right now it’s contact tracing and testing. Think about how they’re doing it in South Korea. That’s kind of what can work here.

On a positive note, the Halos are undefeated.

Dear Designerguy,

May I suggest that you become a Pastafarian?

I’m going for Pantsafarin. We believe that pants should be as far away from you as possible.

Must be hard for the Angels to refund all those tickets, with over 3 million of them sold :p

Getting kind of cranky about refunds for games that won’t be played. This “Postponed” stuff is a legal fiction.

Cranky? I’m fucking (May) PISSED! It appears that the Royals are adopting the “credits, no cash” refund policy that Stubhub currently has in place.

I bought tickets to all 4 games of the Halos-Royals series May 18-21, this policy is bullshit. I’m not even sure if there will be any games with fans in attendance this season OR next season so crediting someone is a farce, I want cash. (steps off soapbox)

Didn’t someone start a class action? Of course, we’d just get a $10 voucher instead of full refunds…

Readers Digest was meant to say Baseball Digest. It is a good idea that they extended 3 months for us good guys. I first subscribed back in 1967 and began buying it in 1966. Back in the day Sporting News was another favorite of mine too. It came weekly and was big on Baseball.
