I am normally Mr. Tradition when it comes to baseball, but given the current situation I’ll take anything.

I was thinking that, in lieu of the spring training leagues, they could have each team get in shape with intrasquad games, then have a football-like exhibition season in the ML parks wherein the games don’t count, and the rosters are expanded.

The players union has wanted universal DH for a long time (more higher paying jobs) and this will be the first step. The National League is the ONLY baseball league on earth that still has pitchers bat. It is bullshit.

Yep. The other thing is that on those occasions when pitchers DO get on base it is just one more chance for them to get injured since they usually aren’t very good at sliding or running the bases.

The only down side I see in the universal DH is that it takes away the novelty/advantage of having a Shohei Ohtani. Since two way players is now becoming a thing it will be a little sad not to be able to see how that develops.

But overall I do think the universal DH is a good thing, and I think it is inevitable. Just a question of when.

About game 6

Every game I watched during this post season March, the Halos have won.

I’ll try to tune in tonight to keep the luck train rolling. I like this Anaheim team.

MLB wants to now do away with the NL and AL and we will see teams clustered around the same geographical areas. The powers that be must work short hours and then come up will stupid ideas take one last swig of coffee and say to each other “that looks pretty good” and the pat each other on the back and head for a watering hole thinking they are just plain old fashioned geniuses and are the best thing that has ever happened in Baseball.
To open or not. Tough call because what if the gates are opened and Covid-19 returns full force. Again how much longer can we keep up financially with out opening back up. We are having dialog about whether or not to reopening our business. We are small with 2 full time and one part time employees and i’m not sure if my orders and customers will return. This is a tough call for everyone.
Please stay healthy my friends and stay safe.

So baseball comes back without a AL and NL, do they play with a DH or no DH? This will impact teams and their strategy.

excellent point. If they’re tinkering with alignment they can tinker with the rules…27 man rosters or something, DH in all games. 2020 will always have an asterisk so one more oddity won’t matter.

If they tinker with the rules too much, it won’t just be 2020 with asterisks, but also any individual stats. I hope they keep as much the same as possible. I do suspect use of the DH across the board though (as I think they are pushing in that direction already).

Best of luck to you and your business. It’s a tough situation for us all.

I don’t think it is crazy to have baseball with proper safety procedures. It will look a lot different, but if the players can be tested early and often, this could be viable.
