LA Angels Weekend News Crash: Everything corona’d

It seems things are moving so quickly, and the current situation with the coronavirus is different one hour than it was the last. Stay safe and healthy, everyone.

Of course, baseball is postponed. Spring Training games happened Thursday, but they are done for the near future. We know that the NBA was canceled Wednesday night, and now so is the NHL. March Madness has been axed, as well as the Players Championship. European football also looks likely to shut down. The XFL is done, possibly forever. Disneyland wanted to remain open, but it decided to bar its doors after all

In the closest Angels-related corona news, Charles Barkley, who visited Angels camp last week, reveals he is waiting for his test to return

Mike Trout is wishing everyone well…many prominent people around the world have contracted the virus…there are many advice threads out there…make sure to verify that yours is accurate information before heeding it…

At least Westworld is still coming out Sunday.

And remember, no matter what, there’s no crying in baseball.

I grew up too broke for a Nintendo or Play Station, etc and was too far behind the curve to get into video games once I had the money.

Maybe now’s the time. We can find some first person shooter RPG and all play together. We can all kill each other instead of arguing about who to blame for how incredibly contagious and hard to detect in it’s early stages a virus is. Seeing as how our society seems about as smart and hysterical now as people were back in the days of the black death I say we play something that involves swords and large leather bracelets.

Maybe I can live the dream and ride a dragon?

Stater Bros up in Big Bear had a run on everything not just toilet paper, can goods, paper products, tooth paste water, frozen food, all fresh veggies, hard liquors, cereal, bread, but they peeved me off when they bought all the coffee. Now that is just over the top. Weekender come up here from down the hill and within 2 days the store was cleaned out of everything except Clam Chowder. l find this hoarding humorous, well at least they’re pantry’s are full. But come on folks, whole bean Vanilla Nut Coffee! lol. Hot Cocoa or Hot Tea is just not the same. Two things you need in the morning, TP. and coffee, actually Coffee then TP. It’s now official, the Ski Areas are closing down. If there is a safe spot it would be there as people are spread out all over and the elderly are not at the top of the runs looking to meet Corona except maybe in a bottle with lime and that should kill everything anyway.
Do you know how to report that your County has no Coronavirus patients? Just don’t test the public. That will net you zero cases. Got Stock in Netflix, well it is going to set records for people watching with nothing else to do. Have kids that won’t be attending school?, get the Disney Movie Channel it’s worth it as the grandkids love along with the adults.

Still plenty of food left. Just a matter of being able to restock the shelves fast enough. No need to panic. Some things in my store were decimated, but still plenty of food left. No one is going to starve.

On a brighter note, Big Fly Gear is 20 % off while the suspension is happening.

By the way, Masthead folk, I love the new typeface and the other recent improvements!

I’m not a fan of the new font, but the site is loading much faster, which is great!

The whole thing is much faster than the old abandoned site.

Hey, snow in Portland! It’s weird. Meanwhile I keep expecting games to be played. I wake up and check, just in case, every day.

Oh, you’re right about the site’s loading more quickly! That’s the best thing. Re the new typeface, I find it more legible than the Helvetica or whatever it was.

Had a show to play tonight but it’s off. We only play once a month, next one scheduled for April 3rd but that might get cancelled too. Boo!

At least we can countdown 100 Angels or Trout HRs to keep us momentarily distracted.

It’s going to show us how reliant we are on sports. You know….you don’t miss your water etc.

An excellent suggestion, Eric! It is time for a musical interlude.

March is normally my favorite month of the year. Madness, Spring Training then ultimately regular season ball. The time changes, the weather is great…..ahh it is perfect.

Take away all the sports, add in 2 weeks of rain, and this one would suck.

My kids Little League has been suspended until April 6th, at which time OUSD will review the latest information and then decide if the suspension will continue or play can resume. ALL of the Little League fields are on OUSD property so they have deemed all “Outside Entity Events” be suspended. Taste of Villa Park was supposed to happen this Saturday night, lined up childcare so my wife and I could go, got an email, postponed to a later date because of Covid19. No baseball, no PGA golf. If I’m holding Netflix stock then I should see a nice bump from all the new subscribers stuck in their homes without any other entertainment venues, including Disneyland. Maybe microwave popcorn should be disappearing from the shelves instead of toilet paper.

This too shall pass. Baseball will be played this summer. Putting aside the more serious public health concerns and focusing on our team, this will mean that Ohtani will miss less regular season games and buys Canning some time to deal with his treatments/rehab. However, I will worry about early season injuries if baseball resumes with a handful of spring training games and then a rush into the season schedule. I guess we’ll deal with those issues when that becomes more clear. Stay healthy, everyone.

To carry that a little further: Buttrey and Marsh were about to come back to game action, they should be fully healed. Anderson was dealing with an oblique, which can nag, and should have time to heal.

I’m with you on the injuries if they rush back. Spring Training is designed around pitchers gradually increasing their pitch count. 30, 45, 60, 75, then an attempt at 6 innings. A rushed, 2 week or 3 week ramp up time might not be enough.

The good news is that all of the ballparks in Phoenix are so close to each other a mini Cactus League would be easy to pull off. The guys in Florida not so much.

I have no doubt that they’re still getting their innings in during this shut down, it just won’t be during live competition. It’ll be interesting how they fit in that last of the spring training work once they restart. I would guess that they will do something like a 8-day/8-game exhibition period then start immediately after. Lots of guesswork.

Yep. Had plans to see Yachtley crew at Shamrock and Roll at the Queen Mary for Vickie’s birthday. Cancelled. Had tix to Book of Mormon at the end of the month. Cancelled. Had VIP tickets to Yuri’s Night (any other space nerds?). Cancelled.

This fucking (March) sucks.

The local market here is out of toilet paper and powdered milk. We have three Marines aboard the Combat Center in quarantine pending tests. Yeah, some things are more important than baseball. Did kind of want something to take my mind off the news, though. Everybody out there stay cool and stay safe.

Teach them a skill. Act like a foreman, and put them to work doing something creative. Only help at the start of each new different step, don’t ride them, and just be there to answer questions on how things need to be done.

This was the Montgomery St BART station at 4:30pm Friday. Usually it’s packed.

Did you wonder “What the f*** is that smell?” and then realize that it’s just the way air smells without piss?

I think we found alternative sources for the TP shortage:
