No Angels FanFest and No Angels Moving Day

It’s not about the Fans to the Angels Brass.

While Fans across the Nation are having or getting ready for their favorite teams FanFest, we Angels Fans are left in the Dust. In an offseason where we get a Shiny New Manager and a $245m Dollar Man, The Angels don’t capitalize on the interest in the team they created by having a FanFest at Angel Stadium. Not only that, but they forgo their own slightly pathetic Moving Day. While other Teams are introducing their New attractions straight to their fans, the Angels have left their fans in the cold as this years Moving Day has past, Feb 4, 2020. Angels Fans are Not Happy.

Imagine a Stadium Full of Fans buying Merchandise, Concessions, Decked Out in Angels gear flooding the air with Angels talk and excitement. Image Angels players (past and present) giving out autographs and interviews while Fans await and listen like its the first day of school, where Gubi and Victor welcome Fans into the 2020 Season. Free Dugout and Clubhouse tours. Free vendor Merchandise for fans. People sitting on the outfield glass, touching the infield dirt, while kids are running around… just Fans taking in the Start of Baseball. Imagine that or you can go to the San Francisco Giants FanFest this Saturday Feb 8th at Oracle Park, where all this is going to be provided by the Giants for their Fans.

Let me repeat that last part just in case the Angels FO comes sniffing by.
“For their Fans”

Doesn’t really make sense that they didn’t have a fan fest or moving day, although there were a lot of grumbling fans last year on Moving Day , as fans who were not season ticket holders waited in line from 7am or earlier while the season ticket holders got to go in early and strip the cupboards bare. Maybe the first 10 or 20 non season ticket holders got a leftover. When they announced everything was gone, there were 100 plus people pretty pissed off after standing in a line for 3+ hours. There take on it was why wouldn’t a season ticket holder already have this merchandise? Of course the answer is eBay sales and Facebook Marketplace sales.

Ouch, that’s pretty bad event management. I can’t say it’s not standard, but maybe they needed purchasing limits on number of items (if they didn’t already have that in place) and/or more items? Maybe going to every other year will generate more items and provide the proper stock for fans?

The items in question are just the promotional items from the previous year that were left over and not handed out to the fans entering the game.

I don’t understand this move at all. Seems like a huge win for fans and for the team and probably brings them some money too. Makes no sense at all.

Sounds like you’re describing the aborted Pederson/Stripling trade.

When was the last one? Was it the year they signed Vladdy? I remember standing in a huge crowd while they interviewed him in Spanish. Seems like they did one more after that.

Would’ve liked to bring the family to something. Still going to try to make it spring training but I hope a local FanFest or something can be done in the near future

Yeah if the Miami Marlins can get 17,000 to go to their fan fest, it’s pretty annoying we don’t have anything at all.

That’s just people curious to see if the team still exists.

Were they handing out gift baskets?

Seems like the FO really isn’t interested in hands-on marketing. Saw where the Reds had an event in Dayton at the USAF museum- event was SRO full.

I feel this type of stuff is where the Angels’ small front office departments (relative to other teams in the league) shows up.

Putting on events is a big undertaking from a planning and coordinating perspective. They may not have the manpower to do a good one every year. Or pay for it.

Yes, it seems odd that the team should be so inactive in the promotion department. Consider also that 2020 is the franchise’s 60th season, and they will apparently do nothing to commemorate it—not even a patch on the uniform.

They will commemorate it by having a play off season. Don’t be greedy !

Agreed, the team is going to contend this year and with a great milestone a FF would have been a great way to kick things off.

Pretty pathetic IMO that the Angels can’t do anything for the fans either in terms of a Fan Fest or Moving Day.
