Angels Trade Jose Soriano to Blue Jays, Brent Suter to Braves, Jo Adell to Guardians, Reid Detmers to Cubs

As anyone who was awake earlier would know, the Angels actually did it, they traded someone. Jose Soriano is going to Toronto for prospects Arjun Nimmala (SS), Eddie Micheeletti (OF) and Angel Rivero (RHP).

That is a 20 year old SS, a 24 year old OF, and a 19 year old pitcher. I am sure that more detail would be given down in the comments on how good this is or not.

Also, a bit more recently, the Angels traded Brent Suter for an IF named Nacho Alvarez jr. Helmet Nachos with his name on it if he is any good.

Then, at 9:20 AM, the Angels traded Jo Adell to Cleveland. Guards are actually buying, and Ho Adell, the 3 home run robber himself, is gone. Jacob Cozart (C) is part of what the Angels get back.

Cubs get Detmers.

This will be updated with future trades (if they happen) for the next few hours.

Conflicting reports on Detmers

Meanwhile… Kade Anderson lost a game and is now 9-1 with a 1.20 ERA, 119 Ks and 12 walks in 82 innings in AA. Tyler Bremner is 2-4 with a 4.28 ERA. Do I dare look up Seth Hernandez? 3-0, 0.96.

At this point I’m more hopeful about Slawinski than I am Bremner but I’m most hopeful about this new direction and the team making the decisions. Still, it’ll take me awhile to get over the platypus who put us in this spot

Adley to Boston is confirmed. Damn

I would not have done that over Neto. Neto is the equal as a hitter and younger. Adley looks like he’s on a 3 year decline.

I believe Neto would thrive in Fenway as a RH pull hitter.

So are we really hypnotizing ourselves here to believe Neto is a bad teammate because he has some free-swinging tendencies and wears too much eyeblack? Careful! Craig Breslow could be reading and nix the Arias trade!

For me, his fraternization with the opposition when his team is getting their ass kicked is inexcusable. Laughing it up…GTFO

I don’t think he’s a bad teammate at all. However, I find him to be very immature and miscast in role and responsibility.

Breslow can read Over The Green Monster to hear from his own faithful what they think of Zach

Off record, this looks to be the case based on the way I see him around BP and pregame. He definitely marches to the beat of his own drum and is often sitting on the upper bench alone watching teammates take BP.

He’s not the rah-rah guy, he’s not giving tips to others, but he’s also clearly part of the team and gives fist bumps to guys as they leave the field.

Just comes across as a part of the team but not a leader nor a distraction.

I think leadership matters and a good manger would be helping him mature.

I would start by telling him no more stealing. He gets thrown out almost as often as he’s successful. His base stealing is killing the team, especially as a lead off hitter.

Media, fans (myself included) and broadcasters basically anointed this Neto’s team last year. He oozes with overconfidence and his ego grew too large. All the losing has clearly affected his play.

Not everyone is a leader. Neto is not a leader and we forced him into being one

Eh… we’re talking about MLB. This is the league where Bryce Harper is an elder statesman. Clubhouses breed and sustain man-children.

I think on a weak team, too much is expected of him. (I have no idea about his clubhouse actions). He is not the best shortstop in the league, nor the worst. On a good team he would be “serviceable.”

He’s the 3rd or 4th best hitting SS in the AL even now and his defense before this year has been average to above average. He is not Bobby Witt Jr. but would be a really good addition on a good team.

So far so good but we need to finish strong. Let’s move Neto, Detmers, and Zeferjhan.

I would love to see a plethora of young guys. Bring up Rada and move Trout to right.

Let Klassen and Dana get some MLB exposure.

Play the kids then option them all back down to AAA before the lockout.

Padres trading for Robbie Ray.
deGrom invoked his no-trade clause to block a trade.

Hey Milwaukee, Atlanta, Chicago, Philly it’s time to up your offer for Detmers.
