7-0 Win Postgame

Wa;bert Urena versus some rando. Urena did have to pitch out of trouble in the first. The Angels got two runs in the top of the second inning to make it two nothing.

The Angels exploded in the sixth inning Zack Neto doubled with men on base to make it 4-0 Angels.

Then Nolan Schanuel doubled to make it 6-0 Angels.

Ain’t no Gorilla Glue gonna help you! The 2026 angels are a juggernaut. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Denzer Guzman homered in the top of the seventh inning. 7-0 Angels.

So anyway, the Angels ended up winning this one 7-0.

I worked in the yard, took a nap, woke up and the whole game had been played. Missed dinner, too. So….I found a way to lose a little weight while supporting my team!

Welp. Urena’s got about 70 innings of pitching that every hitter in the MLB has been able to study at this point. His WHIP keeps going downwards. Sure, there are plenty of aspects of his game I could point out if I wanted to be a Sad Sally about every subject that crosses my nose, but over all he’s been a much more solid rookie arm than I expected. We’ll have to see what happens when more teams see him a second time, but he may actually improve with more innings too. Maybe we got ourselves some unexpected rotation depth here.

Donovan Walton is carrying this team. Sure, that’s why we have 31 wins. But still, he’s carrying the team.

Kudos to the A’s for wearing a uniform that says Sacramento on it. Refusing to do that last year was such an Arte move.

The Angels starting rotation ranks 26th in the MLB with a 4.69 ERA. With Walbert coming of age, plus Soriano and Detmers, need to find that reliable 4 and 5 to bring that ranking back to above average. But it’s a nice trio.

So I found this chart.

Seems accurate this series. Win big or blow it. Could be a bad team instead of a HORRENDOUS team if the bullpen was closer to average.

For where the Angels are in the standings, chart surprises me a bit. The Halos are in the quadrant where you would want to be but they feel so much worse.

All I see here is that we are almost the Braves. Cool.

I am shocked that the bullpen didn’t blow that lead. 7 run lead is only a 40/60 chance of holding on and winning.
