It is finally here. Angels baseball is back. But how good will the team actually be? Well, here at Crashing the Pearly Gates, we have low expectations. Still, we do not all have the same ones, so it is time to give ours and see if you can do it better. One year someone here got it super close, so who knows, it may be you.

Team MVP: Zach Neto
Nick Adenhart Award Winner (best pitcher): Jose Soriano
Who surprises us in a good way? Soler has a better season than last year. He should be traded in July.
How does the season go? Angels somehow find themselves in the thick of things through May. Not winning the West, but being within striking range of .500. They get to like 11-12 and 19-20 and the like, making everyone wonder if this team is actually good. But then someone gets hurt, they smack into a wall, and the Angels tumble down. They trade away players as we watch wondering when the new owner will buy the team, and if there will be baseball in 2027. And then, as the Angels look like they may lose 100 games, they get better in September, eeking it out, and this place celebrates the 63rd win like crazy.

Who surprises us in a good way? Kurt Suzuki
How does the season go? Revolving door of pitchers and second basemen. Frustrating LOB.

Who surprises us in a good way? Jorge Soler
How does the season go? The Angels lost 300 solid innings between Tyler Anderson and Kyle Hendricks and have replaced them with uncertainty. There are good reasons to dream on Ryan Johnson, Silent C, Walbert Urena, and I think eventually George Klassen but the fact remains at best two will prove to be MLB worthy. I like the lineup and think Frazier was a great low cost way to shore up second base. But there simply isn’t any depth on this team. Ultimately if the kids develop and a couple pan out, this still could be a fun team to watch.

Who surprises us in a good way? Logan O’Hoppe- He finally breaks out and looks good both on offence and defence.
How does the season go? Angels somehow find themselves in the thick of things through May. Then another .500 month of June. July get’s hot and so do the Angels. Perry doesn’t fall for the Fool’s Gold that the Halos are and doesn’t look at “add” rather the trade deadline hits and they finally give up the ghost and trade away our 1 year deal guys for more kids on the farm. They have a terrible Sept. and fall just under a .500 record. They have little to nothing left on the books for 2028 and Arte is starting to take bids on the team as MLB heads into a lockout.
The players want to play and someone creates a WBC tournament to be played the months of Feb-May and the world rejoices watching the best in the world actually care in meaningful games.

How does the season go?
Kinda bad. Pitching will be depressing and Soriano will still hate pitching in Anaheim, regardless of how he does on the road.
Defense will be better just because Rengifo is gone. It doesn’t matter who plays in the infield, the defense will be better.
I will still watch as many games as I possibly can, as I am a glutton for punishment.
My biggest hope is they have a true fire sale at the deadline, but I don’t believe they will. They will only trade expiring contracts and maybe not even those because sadly they have no clue what they’re doing.

Good Surprises: PTP gone by September first, Soler gone by July first, and Mikey hits 30+ HRs
How does the season go: April-May Looking decent, June 3 opening day pitchers on IL joining Trout, Neto, Mocada and Lowe, Soler traded prior to Trouty taking over DH, July-August Injuries are common and wins hard to come by but Trout, Neto and Schanny do well, Lowe traded, Kikuchi traded, and non performing yuts brought in and dumpster diving fizzles out and he’s gone (PTP). September: The race to “70” is on and it starts at 56 wins.
Submitted after the first game; null and void!
😄 Funny Stuff.

How does the season go? The boys get off to a scorching start in the first third of the season, with a 34-20 record. We fight against regressing to the mean and manage to stay relatively healthy, standing 61-51 at the trade deadline. Firmly in the playoff hunt, Perry trades away 5 top 15 prospects. Injuries hit shortly after, and while the team shows incredible resilience, we unfortunately miss the playoffs, continuing the streak with a weakened farm system.
— Trout plays 140+ games, hits 40 HRs, .900 OPS
— Neto improves his BB%, .850 OPS
— Adell clubs 40 HRs, .850 OPS
— Soriano finishes top 5 in Cy Young voting
— Detmers and Silent C have sub-3.70 ERAs
— Bachman and Silseth have breakout years in the ‘pen
This is gonna age so poorly 😂
I think Silseth just might breakout as a starter and Schanny has a breakout too. The rest I’ll chalk up to you missing meds this morn. I would like to see Neto stay healthy and have a .375 on base %. Detmers will come into his own, but the pen is going to be the rough spot.
My season predictions:
67-95
Team MVP: Neto
Pitching MVP: Kikuchi
Arte sees what the Padres sell for ($3+ billion) and sells for $2.8 sometime between the end of this season and start of 2028 season. No 2027 WS like 1994.
The staff is all very near the expected outcome. Versus having me spit out a numerical record, fairly certain to state:
So, aside from that, how did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln?
⚰️
You could hit .400% right. 😃
like I said, 39-123, then I can be pleasantly surprised. Trout 4 WAR. Jo 35 HRs, Detmers the only 10 game winner. No significant trades at the deadline because “we’re building something”.
😮 😯 😅 😁 😩 😂 😄
I’ll stick with my prediction the other day: 66-96
I don’t like how half of the new acquisitions between trades/FA are already hurt. Almost looks like Perry didn’t do anything based off the opening day roster,
