We struck first in the bottom of the 1st when Jo reached on an infield single and Ward with a base hit to right, driving in Trout for a quick 1–0 lead. It was the kind of start that we were hoping for.
But Cincinnati had an answer… In the top of the 2nd, Noelvi Marte launched a 415-foot homer to center to even the score. Just two innings later, the Reds broke things open. Marte doubled to right to push across another run and Miguel Andújar followed with a two-run double to left. Cincinnati had a 3-1 edge they wouldn’t surrender.
In the 5th Andújar singled home De La Cruz, making it 4-1. From there Hunter Greene settled in on the mound, keeping our hitters quiet despite Trout reaching base twice. The Halos couldn’t cash in on opportunities. Failed to put together a rally against a steady Cincinnati bullpen.
But we weren’t ready to roll over. In the seventh, Jo reignited Angel Stadium with a mammoth 452-foot blast to straightaway center, his latest reminder that his power is for real. Neto followed with an RBI single to score Travis d’Arnaud. 4-3. Then, in the final moments of the 8th Jo homered again to the left! The crowd came alive, finally sensing a comeback brewing.
But, when it looked like things were going great, Friedl hit a sac fly to center and Trevino scored. Following that up Lux doubled right and Hayes scored. What seemed like a thrilling comeback ended unfortunately. 6-4 Reds.
We played in LA last night? News to me.
St. College Blvd! We love it. We love it. we love LA. – good job Yorke – thanks for taking the heat for the teams performance last night. To live and die in LA.

No mention of Kenley’s HBP and BB being the losing runs seems like a key omission- reason for the loss. I really hate seeing him come in to a tie game.
Yorke this headline is misleading. It feels very much like click bait.
Not a fan of a home team comeback, going in tied in the 9th and have it be anyone’s game?
How about “Angels lose a thriller in Anaheim”. Seems more genuine and it’s Anaheim not LA.
Yeah I didn’t like the LA reference either.
I hate the LA reference because this team is not located there.
“The Thrilla in maniLA?”
When this season concludes, the Angels batters will have set a team record of an estimated 1,600 strikeouts. That will be the equivalent of 59 entire games of K’s.
Pretty scary isn’t it. All of those at bats where the ball was never put in play. Over 1/3rd of our total outs.
It’s pathetic. Coupled with a mediocre number of walks, says loud and clear there’s a considerable number of chasing pitches out of the strike zone, i.e., lack of plate discipline.
Our GM is getting away it, flaws are deep rooted and need to be addressed
It’s the “addressed” part that keeps this interesting and frustrating. Who to bring in, and who to let go.
We need to wave Heefo so we can trade him.
I have been on the jettison Rengifo wagon for 3 years at least.
Yeah, he needs to go.
The thing with me, a player should hustle all the time, whether on base paths or on defense. Jogging after fly balls etc should be an impeachable offense in baseball. They should be sitting on bench or packing their suitcase. One of the reasons Brian Downing was one of my favorite players, full out effort all the time.
Is there room on this hate wagon? I believe I’m the last holdout from former Team Rengifo. DFA the bum already.
Always room
👋
I will wave goodbye to Heefo when we waive him.
The Reds are a better team.
Better team at half the payroll of the Angels.
15 KS. Outfielders not hustling. Luis R being terrible. Another Loss.
We’re averaging just under 10 K’s per game.
I’m surprised it’s that low.
1235 K’s in 126 games. No one’s even close to us.
I’m sure we’ll win at least 64 but .500 is long gone. Probably finish at 75-87. Is that competitive?
Good to have you back on the west coast.
We lost 99 last year, so it’s an improvement.
An entire decade without a winning season.
