A Little Life A Little Late Postgame

There’s an old joke about a man in a women’s prison with a pocket full of pardons that applies well to the Angels offense. They simply can’t score.

Angels hitters took 5 walks in less than 4 innings, including back to back walks in two separate frames, but failed to push across a run. Entering the game on a 15 inning scoreless streak, our boys kept themselves off the board until the 7th inning tonight. That is 21 straight zeroes followed by a 1.

That 1 was provided by the heart of the team, Logan O’Hoppe.

The walks weren’t the only good sign tonight. Silent C set a career high mark with half a dozen strikeouts. On the night there were only a couple of pitches he’d want back but one left the yard for a three run shot.

As Fletcher points out this was a particularly painful at bat as Jack was up 0-2 in the count and pitched himself into a bad situation. The absolute meatball over the plate was easily his worst pitch of the night.

As cool as back to back walks are for a struggling team, Zach Neto and Nolan Schanuel pulled off back to back doubles in the top of the 8th. Two backwards K’s by Trout (bs call) and Ward (watched a meatball) were followed by a third double in the inning; this one by Jorge Soler.

The doubles barrage brought the score to 5-3 Seattle and the Angels got no closer. So the losing skid continues, but perhaps some better days are ahead.

Taylor Ward as an angel can end soon, he isn’t getting paid in arbitration again.

Kochan and Soriano have nasty stuff, they just throw bad pitches at the worst times. They each should be getting 6k minimum every start.

Woooo weeeeeeeee…. not a very good team right now. I am willing to bet that we will win more than three of ten games sometimes this season. we are a in last place…. that may not change unless the A’s or Mariners collapse.

I’m not a true Angels fan, so it doesn’t really matter to me. Just develop a few kids. That’s all I want. Hell, lose 100 games so I can get some sort of “I was there for it” tattoo.

I say pull Adell and start Campero tomorrow. Give Adell a day off. 0-14

Adell, Ward, Trout,
Paris, Rengifo…: basically no one is hitting.

It wouldn’t shock me if all three OF spots get a day off soon.

Wash should have gone after the umpire this game. Tough enough that they are struggling at the plate already and getting hosed multiple times doesn’t help.

If it hadn’t been for my evening event tonight and my lunch meeting tomorrow I’d have been there. I’d been planning it since I first saw the schedule. It turns out I saved some money and grief. The plan was stay overnight and catch tomorrow’s day game. I fear that one won’t be any better
