The Tigers sent the Astros packing yesterday. The Padres beat Atlanta to earn their chance to face the Dodgers. The Royals beat the Orioles and now they can face the Yankees.
Colton Cowser got a broken hand while the Orioles were losing to Kansas City.
The Mets Brewers series is going to game 3.
And in the moment we’ve all been waiting for, Perry Minasian discusses the Angels future. He says the past is frustrating from a small picture standpoint.
Diamond Sports Group will cut ties with 11 different MLB teams including the Angels.
The Marlins have sacked their entire coaching staff. The Twins only canned four coaches.

Did anyone expect Perry to say anything other than what he said?
“Why of course I recognize this team sucks and I have been mediocre in my position at best – hell, posters on the internet know far, far more about baseball than I do!”
Minasian continued, “…and of course Mr. Moreno is the incarnate of all evil, and should sell the team immediately to a unicorn owner who will purchase for the team every little pony the boys and girls dream of”.
?
Perry. Unburdened by what has been. Moving forward with joy. Totally a plan.
Having no money
To spend And no farm talent
Leads to sad CTPG guy
I think our best draft strategery for 2025…… draft as many dudes named Jackson as possible.
Does he think good players are just gonna fall out of a coconut tree?
Well, you see. Mia. Perry grew up middle class. He grew up around people who were very proud of their lawns. And that’s how he’ll get it done. OK? OK.
…Had a summer job at McDonald’s
Well, Joy is certainly tangible….

Anyone have an account and read this?
There are many things that now reside behind a paywall but I don’t think that their content is at that level.
MLB Trade Rumors normally isn’t, but this one is. It might be them trying out a subscription idea or perhaps the article comes from a source that charges.
According to the comments, they’ve always had subscription articles but are letting them be visible to advertise to a wider audience. A shame really since the offseason outlook articles had always been free to read previously.
I have a subscription to The Athletic and you can see where the money is going as the majority of stuff is very well written and sourced. MLBTR is just an amalgamation site that regurgitates already public information sourced from all of the web and social media IMHO.
I will continue to read it but…
Too bad, I usually check them daily during the offseason and often otherwise.
Guess I’ll just have to check somewhere else for free.
More importantly it is Fat Bear Week (explore.org/fat-bear), you can still vote for the fattest bear. I don’t spend much time with baseball now that the Angels are done. If forced to pick teams to root for it would be Royals and Padres.
I vote Smokey.
I vote Cindy
I’m voting Yogi. All of those pick-a-nick baskets add up.
I wonder if Ippei can tell us what the betting line is on these bears.
At this point Perry words are meaningless.
Until actions align to the words, and the actions deliver positive results, anyone who believes Perry is a moron.
The fact that he has no communication with Arturo shows how little power he has.
that’s what stood out to me, no discussions yet on 2025. That’s nutty. If there’s a plan then it has to be laid out well in advance.
We all talk about 2026 or 2027 because we look ahead as we should. The actual management (GM, Owner, everyone else involved in decisions) should have everything mapped out over 5 years. “Here’s what we’re gonna do next year, then the year after, then the year after that”.
Soooo…. since you don’t have a TV deal yet, what’s the plan for 2027?
Was it just payroll they haven’t discussed? Or the team at large? Payroll I understand cause TV deal’s gotta get sorted out.
It’s mostly budget and that’s El Jefe. Trout was calling Arte out 8 months ago and was rebuffed.
What Père must do is get the bestest amateur available next June.
With everyone back, unless he gets some money which I doubt, our fate is cast and Arte will just be content to rerun 2024.
When are GM pressers full of hardcore facts and meaning? I’m still waiting for someone around here to point me to the ultra transparent front office. I hope it’s a good team, then when they are transparent we can rip off their ideas and fleece them in trades.
I’m a simple guy, I just want a credible lie from Perry…
Credibility? From the Angels? 😆😆😆😆😆
Never gonna get it. It’s literally 90% the same crap. This year the Cardinals were the odd ball. At most, if a GM gets fired, you get an updated pile of packing peanuts to chew. I have listened to eight end of year pressers so far and it’s all….
“We were good this year in some ways. We were bad this year in some ways. We need some _____ and some _____ and we’re gonna work oh so hard to get it this winter. But also we feel there are answers already in the organization. Our fans. So deserve are important. Our manager. What a guy. Payroll? We’ll see. Owner? We’ll talk. So hungry for victorious balls. We need more pitching. Thank you.” Sprinkle in hoping (insert injured players names) will be good to go. And that we will try to sign (insert local free agent) and we’ve had some talks. Finish.
I have never liked brackets in pro sports. Best should always play worst and re-seed every round. Otherwise, What’s the point having the best records?
Oh, and Arte is a festering rectal wart. Sell the team!
maybe it’s travel arrangements…dunno. in football there’s a week in-between. Here it’s a couple of days. Anyway, Manfred is involved so it’s gotta be wrong.
The NHL went to the bracket format to increase betting. The players have even stated that they hate it.
The only reason the NFL does it is because they play one game for all the marbles.
Other leagues have brackets so teams can plan travel, and obviously play a series
oh, and having the best record gives you a bye and home field advantage throughout, I’d say that’s pretty enticing
No Baseball Games live in town this weekend, so we’re heading to the Huntington Beach giant airshow, plenty of beer-sun-fun and hopefully no oil except some baby oil on the young girls if Diddy left any for sale at Costco. 3 days of enjoyment on the agenda, from the sand and boats and bars/restaurants. Everyone have a great weekend of fun with baseball, football, volleyball, and putin Breath some horseback ridin’. 😄 😃 😎
Did you mean young girls or baby oil, Grandpa?
Padres-Dodgers, the can’t wait for series. Royals-Yankees takes us back to the 1970’s, but with different results I hope but, doubt. Executives hoping once again for a Yankees-Dodgers TV ratings blockbuster, somethings never change. The nightmare that still is alive, Sinatra’s song, oh dang me-take a rope and hang me (thank-you Roger Miller). 😀
Hoping for Padres over the Tigers in 7
Man. If the Padres beat them there will be parties. I like to party.
“Whoa” as the reigns are pulled back, PTP said all the right things to the press without making any predictions or apologies, he is now on a ride that can burn all four hooves off his shod horse. First he has to keep Arte grounded and not do something stupid like spend another 275 million for a Borass client, second, he has to make off season deals that work for the future of the team and not just quick fixes for 2025, third decide what to do with Rendone and even to a much smaller degree with Trouty (DH? A little 1b?, Corner OF?), and lastly oversee the most important part of all, hit the proverbial Grand Slam with the ’25 Draft. If he becomes an elite GM after all of that, he can say “Getti-up and sing back in the saddle again”.
“I think I’ve spent too much time and energy making logical suggestions to unreasonable people”
PedroCerrano 2024
I think we should listen to this guy. It’s on the internet so it must be true. Beside Pedro says that a man such as Pedro Cerrano won’t be trifled with.
Jobu agrees as well.
Tell Jobu to pass the Rum!
As the sport grew what really changed was the playoffs which added a lot of October excitement. Now it really is a case of who gets hot in October. The Tigers got hot in September and may just keep rollin’ along, we could see KC repeat 9 years later after their last World Series winning team. The Dodgers do not have to face the Asstros cheatin’ ways, so they have hope. Around and ’round it goes, it never slows, who’s to win no one really knows”. Congratulations to the Royals, kudos to the Padres, and a special thank-you to the Tigers. Go Brewers Blue Crew!
Minasian’s comments and his reference to Detroit and Arizona’s recent success ring very hollow. Both of those clubs had/have very good minor league systems which make them very different from the Angels in the quality and speed of any rebuild.
I just don’t see Arte being willing to jump big time into free agency with his television revenue drying up. So free agency is unlikely to be a major source of players.
Season ticket renewals are due this month. It’s typical for this Organization to release quasi-positive spin at this time in order to convince season ticket holders to re-up.
We might see the Angels TV deal go from 125m a year to something like 106m. The team most likely based Rendone’s and others contracts off of that revenue source going the opposite direction, maybe going from 125m to 130m, etc. Shrinking was probably not in the calculations when they signed Trout for his contract. Cuts, cuts, cuts are on the horizon. All of the agents have their work cut out for them and a lot of free agents are going to be very, very disappointed.
What makes you think someone will pay $106m to broadcast Angel games? I’m seriously curious.
And you are correct- Trout and Rendon contracts are highly unlikely to be handed out anymore given the financial uncertainty created by declining television revenues.
Reading the article it says that Diamond and the Angels are both interested in getting a new deal done. Regardless of the product they fielded this season, it is still a fairly large market. Now, I don’t know the numbers and particulars, and Diamond already has all the infrastructure in place, whereas Arte would need time to build that model. So, off the cuff, I took last years number, and subtracted 15%. Is it accurate? Hell no, because I don’t know the real numbers, just what is reported.
This describes how things worked for Arizona this year.
$99/yr.

Sounds like cheap Art will become even cheaper Art.
Thank you. Good info.
This is good for us in that, if any of the kids look to be good, extensions will be easier to get done.
I have yet to see the season ending GM presser where the GM’s like “Everything is gonna be the same but we don’t really care if we say so because not giving a fk about season ticket renewals is hardcore.” It didn’t seem like he was trying to sell much of anything because, unless he’s been told he’ll have a 240M budget next season, he has little to put forth.
Doesn’t matter who wins Mets vs Brewers.
They’re gonna get blasted by the Phillies!!
All of baseball said that last year about the NLCS with the D- backs 🤣
That was last year Rex…this is 2024.
What baseball really needs is for everyone to get blasted by the DoyKees.
Ladies and gentlemen, the voice of the mainstream sports media!
