Our DH today is hitting .172 and the sad thing is that until Schanuel returns, we literally don’t have anyone hitting better that isn’t already in the line up. We’re really bad. This is probably the worst hitting club in the history of the organization.

We should sign someone like Soler to hit for a little power and eat some innings.

Good Lord almighty!!! Did you guys see the abortion of a performance our buddy Doug Eddings put in last night Colorado Rockies vs St Louis Cardinals??? FFS the guy should’ve been fired after the 2005 ALCS Kelvim Escobar-Josh Paul- AJ Pureshitski episode and here he is 21 years later still being a terrible umpire.

Was there a particular call you saw? According to umpscorecards the balls and strike calls overall were 1% above average for accuracy and consistency.

No – but I saw the error that got the Cardinals back in the game. Terrible routine throw for a MLB player. So bad it looked like he tanked it.

Ah, got I think. The crooked cap debacle. Really stupid on Eddings part. Should be removed for test if season without pay at least.

Kid was wearing his cap basically how Sonny Gray has worn his for years, without umpire comment.

Eddings comments re: not on “his field” revealed all, methinks.

Next game Eddings umps every player and coach on both teams should wear their hat crooked the whole game.

Maybe I’m new school but I absolutely hate all of the “unwritten rules” of baseball.

Every time they are brought up to explain any sort of action by an ump or player, it feels like a weak argument. Most of them are seemingly just rules against having fun or being expressive in any way.

More of Johnson not “passing the eye test” tonight.

Ryan Johnson gives us 5 more years of cost-controlled backend starting pitching with maybe a little upside.

1.67 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in his last 32.1 innings.

Honestly fine with me. Good close score, good pitching by us, but staying on top of the inverted standings.

Just finished looking at 2026 stats. Angels have 236 MORE Ks than hits. (1334-1098), Rays have 289 more HITS than Ks (981-1230). Everything being the same, no way in 1 year the Angels can match their hitting.

However, Mariners have 165 more Ks than hits, Rangers have 55 more Ks than hits and Astros have 12 more Ks than hits. That might be attainable next year. Then pitching and a good manager can make the team competitive in the West.

All is not lost for next season. But major changes have to be made in the players in the field and bullpen. And in the dugout.

2026 stats are not unique. Halos team batting strikeouts have eclipsed team batting hits for years.

Just checked 2019, the last 162-game season.

Total Hits (H): 1,368

Total Strikeouts (SO): 1,276

As you indicated, getting past COVID year, Angels have been underwater since.

Just to be clear, I was alluding to “improving the team next season.” Angels are 3rd in league in Ks but 27th in home runs. It is so many swinging for the fences for no reason. About 1/2 the teams have more Ks than hits. But those with high Ks also are 15th or so in home runs.

Not gonna lie, I almost died laughing when they pinch hit the .178, .458OPS catcher for the .164, .491OPS catcher in the 9th.
