Angels lose to Astros late

What do you do as a team after yesterday? A disastrous 9th inning ruining a quality start, blowing a 9th game when the team was winning after 8, and to HOUSTON. Look, the Angels are not going to the playoffs, or have a winning record, or even win 70 games, but this has to be demoralizing.

A few players do have hope though, hope they will get traded to a team that is actually good. One of those being Reid Detmers. He went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out 9 and walking 1. Will he actually get traded? Who knows. The Angels interim GM seems to have some say…

9k in 5 innings

Highlighted Recap

Astros scored first this time. Home run. Ugh.

1-0 Trashos

But the Angels responded in the 3rd thanks to small ball.

Grissom comes through

Defensively, Neto made a good play, perhaps also on the trade block?

Too bad Detmers gives up another home run in the 4th.

2-1 Trashos

Angels respond again. This time a Soler double in the 5th.

Tied game

It was a bullpen game for both teams now, and it could go either way. Angels could Angels, but the Astros had the worst pitching in the AL. Who would break first? It was the Angels. By pitching to Alvarez in the 9th this time instead of IBB.

3-2 Trashos

Unlike the Angels though, the Astros closer was elite and they haven’t blown a save yet.

Upcoming

1 more vs the Trashos and then the Brewers come to the BIG A. Remember when they were in the AL?

Just another great example of why we didn’t re-sign Kenley Jensen-Am I right?

We’re 5-17 over our last 22. I thought it was dire 6 weeks ago. How long is this rebuild going to last? Another 10 seasons?

In the battle to be the worst, both the Angels and Rockies bullpens lost games tonight. Colorado’s was more egregious! They led 6-4, then 7-6, gave up a run in the bottom of the 8th for a tie, then another in the 9th to lose 8-7. They’re still tied with us at 42-66

Only thing that matters at all is that Detmers pitched really well going into the trade deadline.

Why, does Arte have his eye on some 35-year-old R.O.A.D. player in return?

2/3rds of the way thru the season so it’s easy to calculate that we’re on a 63 win pace. If Detmers and Soriano are traded we’re 100+ losers for sure, which is ok if we actually rebuild

Well, well, well. Another 9th inning – another loss.
