What do you do as a team after yesterday? A disastrous 9th inning ruining a quality start, blowing a 9th game when the team was winning after 8, and to HOUSTON. Look, the Angels are not going to the playoffs, or have a winning record, or even win 70 games, but this has to be demoralizing.
A few players do have hope though, hope they will get traded to a team that is actually good. One of those being Reid Detmers. He went 5 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out 9 and walking 1. Will he actually get traded? Who knows. The Angels interim GM seems to have some say…
Highlighted Recap
Astros scored first this time. Home run. Ugh.
But the Angels responded in the 3rd thanks to small ball.
Defensively, Neto made a good play, perhaps also on the trade block?
Too bad Detmers gives up another home run in the 4th.
Angels respond again. This time a Soler double in the 5th.
It was a bullpen game for both teams now, and it could go either way. Angels could Angels, but the Astros had the worst pitching in the AL. Who would break first? It was the Angels. By pitching to Alvarez in the 9th this time instead of IBB.
Unlike the Angels though, the Astros closer was elite and they haven’t blown a save yet.
Upcoming
1 more vs the Trashos and then the Brewers come to the BIG A. Remember when they were in the AL?
