Angels Beat A’s on Father’s Day

Father’s Day is really the start of Summer. I mean, it literally is this year, but culturally for America it is as well. Dad’s Day is a Baseball day, and it is time for Hot Dogs, Beer, and watching your team on TV.

For me, I decided to make a brunch for my dad. Mickey Pancake, eggs, spam, banana, and a blueberry muffin. Something nice to do together before the Angels make us cry.

Yum

Detmers was sent out against the A’s and got us through our first drink fast. He went 6 innings, giving up 5 runs on 6 hits, striking out 4 and walking 4. Bruh.

Needed more strikes, or an opener?

But what made it interesting is that the Angels scored as well. Walton and Guzman both hit a 3 run jimmy jack and we wonder how long these hot streaks will last. Because that is all we can hope for, some hot streaks from some players sometimes. Not sustained success for even a month, let alone a year.

Highlighted Reacp

Game started with Adell getting robbed of a HR AGAIN

Something something shoe foot

That set the tone for the game as Detmers was so bummed he forgot how to throw strikes, walking in the first run of the game.

1-0 A’s

And a sac fly makes it 2.

2-0 A’s

Single makes it 3.

3-0 A’s

And a 4 run first for the A’s

Momentum swings and such

However, Walton is STILL on fire and hit a 3 run home run in the 2nd.

4-3 A’s

Meckler kept it close in the 3rd with a great catch.

D FENCE

But Detmers allowed one in the 4th anyway.

5-3 A’s

A’s felt bad and gave a run back though with multiple wild pitches.

5-4 A’s

Detmers got through 6, which was astonishing given how bad his 1st inning went, and left when the game was close.

So, the bullpen immediately made it NOT close.

7-4 A’s

A’s bullpen also blows and the GAME IS TIED

7-7 in the 8th

And when the team needed him the most, Neto hit a home run in the 9th for the lead!

9-7 Angels

Bachman came in to close and did it. Angels win! Split the series vs the A’s SOMEHOW.

Upcoming

Angels back home for O’s and A’s next week. O’s I say because saying their bird name is difficult. A’s is just me being lazy.

We just arrived home after being entertained for a 3 generational Father’s Day and a wonderful time cap off by finding out we won today. A few trades of some a star or two, a couple of older over thirty types and agreeing with Gitch and good draft and moving some talent up and we can avoid 100 loses possibly and be in good shape for next season. Wonderful Father’s Day for us all. 😃

Not very good team survives and wins. Fun can still be had. We will still likely lose 100 games, given late season swoons, trades etc.

But it’s curious. The White Sox have an owner that’s worse than Arte and an ass backwards front office and they are now on the upswing after two horrid years. Does that mean it’s possible? I’m generally on CtPG so I’ve been under the impression that the bullshit bullshits from the tip or what ever the limp cliche is and there is no way to even hope about hope bip bitchy boop.

Now I know the White Sox are middling at best but if we trade some dudes, have a good draft, catch a break with a couple prospects is it possible we can be middling too?

I was wrong! I didn’t realize we lost the game on Friday. When I went to bed we were leading 11-4. How in the world???!!!

Was driving home from shopping and heard “walked the bases loaded” and turned the game off. Turned the video feed later and boy am I glad I did. Holy crap, what a comeback. BTW just scored tix for the main squeeze and I to see Halos-Nats when we visit DC this September. Woo hoo!

Oakland is as bad as us

Pitching-wise, definitely.

I’d never recommend it, but they could almost use the all-arms 2021 draft this cycle. At least I’d trust their draft room to select the best pitchers available.

Two Turk park visits, two Denzer longballs, two Angels wins. Pattern?

I will get excited only if you plan to attend all future Angels games.

I thought it was a lot of fun going to a couple games there.

It was. Breezy Saturday night game, though hot as hell today. But sightlines good everywhere, beers with two minute lines, active crowd.

Guzman sure looking better in the batters box this time around. Angels need surprises like this. No, not falling for Walton or Meckled, sure to fizzle.

I think both could be viable bench pieces. Much better filler than we’ve had in past seasons. Same with Grissom and Peraza. When our roster is depleted we have suffered through much worse than these guys.

My thoughts exactly!

As bench pieces those guys are fine but not regulars. No way. I’m referring to Guzman as a hopeful 2-way run producing regular with some pop. Angels lineup has too many holes to plug up and be pleased with filler level quality.

Would be great if he could solve our perennial 3B problem.
